Yeah, I've tried a little bit of everything.
    I am stumped.

What I am doing is trying to make a trivia door
and the "setstr and getstr " functions are what I'm using.
Only problem is that when you go to answer the question,
if you hit ctrl-c it accepts the command as true and awards ya
50 points. even though you don't type in a damned thing ! :)

Guess I'll run to sync web board and see if Rob's around.

    thanks for the help.

When the programing gets tuff, the programer must get creative,. thats my motto.... here's what i would try..

when you get the input, from the user, check to see if it is within the valid limits, example:

if there is a menu that says: (1) do something (2) go someware (Q) Quit.

Check and see if the user enterd eather '1' '2' or 'q', if he didnt, then remove 50 points, because he musta hit ctrl-c, this will compansate you.

it's not a "direct" fix to your problem, but as i said, sometimes you need to be creative. :-)

Doesnt baja let you except command line peramiters????, if so, you could use the old batch file input trick,

where you would have a batch file running, and if you needed to get some input you could use a program witch you rote in a reall programing lang to get the input, and exit with an errorlevel set to the input, or in baja's case the command line peramiter.

I never could figure out howto make any BAJAs so that people could NOT abort viewing a file.

    This doesn't work?

    printfile "file.txt" P_NOABORT

Yeah, I've tried a little bit of everything.
    I am stumped.

What I am doing is trying to make a trivia door
and the "setstr and getstr " functions are what I'm using.
Only problem is that when you go to answer the question,
if you hit ctrl-c it accepts the command as true and awards ya
50 points. even though you don't type in a damned thing ! :)

    Try this (taken from EXEC\DIR.SRC):

    copy i _sys_status
    and i SS_ABORT
    compare i 0
    if_not_equal # Ctrl-C hit
    print "Aborted.\n"
    goto end
    end_if

Put this code after your getstr call to check for ctrl-c.

It's been such a long time that I posted this - I can't exactly remember the whole of the issue for me. BUT, as I recall, I probably did try that (I tried everything listed in the BAJA manual I had then for that). I haven't really played with since then, so I can't really continuee this discussion effectively. (I don't even recall if this was before or after your DOS *upgrade* for SBBS.) Sorry.

    Thank you for responding though.

Secondly, For some reason I can't my File Bases to see the "FILE_ID.DIZ" and Im stuck having to manually editing the descriptions.. is there an ea way of having these descriptions validated?

Synchronet comes pre-configured to import DIZ's automatically. But, you mus copy PKZIP.EXE and PKUNZIP.EXE into your SBBS\EXEC directory, or they must b in your path. Putting them in SBBS\EXEC is recommended.

Also, refer to the ADDFILES section of the sysop documentation if you've got lot of files ot upload.

    PG

Also, you can only import file_id.diz through the BBS, ADDFILES.EXE will not import the file_id.diz from the zip file. You must use the ;UPLOAD or the ;UPLOAD ALL from the transfer menu, when it starts searching, it will display a line for a short description of the file, and when you press enter, it will import the file_id.diz for the extended description. Pistol Grip and myself like to jam something in the enter key to upload files to the database. If you do this and there is no file_id.diz in the zip, or the file is not a ZIP file, then you will have the description as "No description given for this file.", which can be changed in the TEXT.DAT file.

Yes it will (that's what the /Z option is for).

Addfiles does support importing DIZ's, you just have to use the right combination of command line paramters. Refer to the list below.

Also, what I've done in the past is use a program that will scan all files in a dir and extract the diz into a FILES.BBS file. Then you can just use ADDFILES with FILES.BBS. Similar to how you add a CD with FILES.BBS.
