I -am- from Kentucky and I can say that we have many here that are
in the coal industry that are quite well educated. I have family
members that work in the coal mines... or worked, who are looking
forward to going back to work VERY soon.
In Louisville, we were forced to build very expensive natural gas
power plants. Fortunately for us we did not tear down our legacy
coal plants. Kentucky is the "Saudi Arabia" of coal... they say
that no where else in the world has as much coal as we do. Our
legacy coal power plants were very well maintained and science has
made them cleaner than ever. Sadly, they were shut down... and the
Obama administration ordered the machinery to be destroyed... I'm
sure it is cheaper to get them back online than building the new
natural gas power plants.
It is now more expensive in my city than ever to heat your home.
The gas prices have went up because the gas is used for power.
Electricity has went up too. I have heard that when Trump comes in
we will put the coal power plants back to work and generate enough electricity that it will drive the price down... which will be a
VERY good thing for our state.
They are still mining coal, but shipping it to India and China and
you can bet your ass they are not burning it clean.

Only until something that is a better alternative comes along. But
we have more than enough to power the entire nation for a very long
time. With proper scrubbing coal can be burned cleanly.

One word... SOLINDRA... google it... it really worked out didn't it?
People buy these plug in hybrid cars... with little reagard for
where the energy is produced. They are NOT as clean as some people
would think. If we would only harness tial and river energy that's
where it's going to be done cheaply. But every time they try it
there is a rare chipmunk... or a bat... or some animal that is
endangered and stands in the way.
Much like the oil pipeline was protested because it would reduce the
moose population... guess what... the pipelines generate heat.
Moose like to reproduce underneath the warm pipes it helped to
increase the population not decrease it.
SOlar is a pipe dream... one solar farm directs the sun's energy to
a central tower to generate steam power... yet when there's not
enough sun (which happens often) oil or natural gas is burned to
produce the steam which is not good for the envvironement.

Everyone who has installed solar in my state was promised they can
sell back their energy... blah blah... it does reduce their electric
bill and I know at least 20 people who have installed solar on their
roof. No one has broke even so far... and that's with the tax
credits.
Solar may be the future... but it will be quite a ways into the
future before it's viable... now is not the time.
We have to use what we have and learn how to use it clean before we
get to the bigger and better.
Well, what you believe has no bearing on the matter.

Most of the US is not in a region where solar is viable. Water
power is more viable but it's ignored because it's CHEAPER to
implement. Solar panels are quite profitable in the great $cheme of things.
It's not only my belife it's many. Solar is still too new. Beleive

So why throw away energy sources we have now that can be done
affordably for pipe dreams and boondoggles that will cost twenty

Only a matter of time. You aren't on the wrong track... just not

But if not now, then when? When all the mines and wells have gone dry, and our diminishing supply of clean water is contaminated by fracking? What will we do when we are left high and dry without any more carbon to burn or water

kilowatts were produced by coal or oil; none of that power could reach

That line of thinking is what leads us to accepting stoning as punishment for murder. Yes, there is a Biblical law in tbe Old Testimate that states if anyone was murdring people, they themselves are stoned to death (the actual act of picking up rocks and hurling them at the person until they are dead).
Honestly, in the case of Dillon Roof, I am pretty disapppointed that he got an extension to file for a re-trail and over the fact he's getting an opportunity for a re-trail at all, in spite of the damning evidence against him (including his own confession). He was convicted of murder, the jury feels that he should get the death penalty, but he has an ooportunity to file for a re-trail.

President Trump signs executive actions "to keep radical Islamic terrorists out" and for "a great rebuilding of the armed services."[1]
"I am establishing new vetting measures to keep radical Islamic
terrorists out of the United States of America. We don't want them

want to ensure that we are not admitting into our country the very
threats our soldiers are fighting overseas. We only want to admit those into our country who will support our country and love deeply our

The Treasury Department said it will allow for some companies to do limited business with Russia's Federal Security Service, known as the FSB.[1]
The move is a minor easing of a sanction put in place at the end of the Obama administration that limits business to $5,000 for any calendar year.
A top State Department official said the move was made as a technical

The White House said it was not easing sanctions of Russia, calling the move a routine adjustment.

In two executive actions, Trump plans to direct his administration to evaluate regulatory action taken by his predecessor, Barack Obama, with an eye toward eliminating what his advisers say are burdensome rules on financial services firms and consumers.
He'll also force the delay of an Obama-era rule that required
retirement advisers to act in their clients' best interests.
President Donald Trump's plan to build a wall on the border with
Mexico[1] is facing a major problem: A wall of resistance from his own party, threatening to derail his central campaign promise.
A growing number of congressional Republicans are objecting to the
cost and viability of a proposal that was a rallying cry for the billionaire businessman during his insurgent campaign. Interviews with more than a dozen GOP lawmakers across the ideological spectrum
suggest Trump could have a difficult time getting funding for his plan approved by Congress.
Many bluntly told CNN they'd likely vote against any Trump plan that
is not fully offset with spending cuts, while others questioned
whether Trump's vision would adequately resolve the problems at the border.

President Donald Trump is "evaluating the situation" around national security adviser Michael Flynn possibly misleading Vice President Mike Pence about whether he discussed sanctions against Russia with the Russian ambassador before Trump took office.[1]
Flynn's possible talk of sanctions -- and the fact that he likely

leading many to speculate that Trump's national security adviser could

In 2011, President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton led an invasion on Libya without Congressional authorization that resulted in
it becoming a hotbed of ISIS terrorist activity.
On the last night before he is set to leave office, President Obama launched surprise airstrikes on ISIS camps in Libya. Fox News reported:
A pair of B-2 stealth bombers blasted two ISIS training camps in
Libya on Wednesday evening, dropping 108 precision-guided bombs and sending jihadists scattering many of whom were then cleaned up by drone-launched hellfire missiles, U.S. defense officials told Fox News.
The assault killed an estimated 85 terrorists at the camps, which were about 30 miles southwest of the Libyan coastal city of Sirte.
The U.S. has launched at least 9,000 airstrikes against ISIS since its rise to power under the Obama administration.
The president once called the terror network a JV team, but it has spread across the Middle East and Northern Africa, even inspiring
terror attacks in the United States.

President Donald Trump made a stunning claim Saturday, alleging without offering evidence that his predecessor, Barack Obama, wiretapped Trump Tower[1] ahead of the 2016 election.
"Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my 'wires tapped' in Trump
Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!"
Trump posted on Twitter.
"How low has President Obama gone to tap my phones during the very
sacred election process. This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy," Trump tweeted.
Asked about Trump's tweets, a former senior US official with direct knowledge of investigations by the Justice Department under the Obama administration denied there was any such investigation of Trump or that his phones were tapped.
"This did not happen. It is false. Wrong," the former official said.
The official said clearly that Obama could not order this. It would
have been taken to a judge by investigators, but investigators never
did that, the former official said.
Trump did not offer proof for his stunning claim, which has not been verified, and the White House did not immediately return requests for comment Saturday morning. An Obama spokesman had no comment regarding Trump's claims.
