The US gymnastics team, led by Simone Biles, takes the gold[1] in the women's team competition.
Biles is competing in her first Olympic Games. The win marks the start of what could be a gold rush for the 19-year-old Biles[2], who is bidding to take home five gold medals.
It also means the US retains the title it won in London four years ago. It is unbeaten in team competitions[3] during that period.
