• Breaking News: Uber CEO drops out of Trump council

    From CNN Breaking News@VERT to no-reply@siteservices.cnn.com on Thu Feb 2 14:41:06 2017
Uber CEO Travis Kalanick has dropped out of President Trump's business advisory council. [1]

Kalanick told his employees in a memo that he would not be participating because of the president's immigration order.

"Earlier today I spoke briefly with the president about the immigration executive order and its issues for our community," Kalanick said in the memo obtained by CNN.

"I also let him know that I would not be able to participate on his economic council. Joining the group was not meant to be an endorsement of the president or his agenda but unfortunately it has been misinterpreted to be exactly that."

Uber is awful for the drivers though, run your vehicle into the ground for below poverty level wages after everything is said and done. I presume that is the "American Way" though.

In certain parts of the coutry I would say that's probably the case but I know one in the DC area that may put on 80 miles per night and walks home with $200-300. With that kind of $ you could probably afford to buy a new car every year.. :)

he's not my hero; he's just better than anybody you've ever supported.

uber is a pretty shitty company and they should be required to follow the same laws and requirements that taxi drivers do.

I'm sure it can be decent for some in areas like DC, etc.. driving only on peak hours when uber hikes the rates, but from what I hear they're phasing that out.

But after everything is said and done, fuel paid, wear and tear, maintenence, then taxes, if you cannot get enough deductions.. the numbers pretty much only work out for one party.. Uber..

Its sad that a lot of companies now would rather have high turnover rate on employment, to keep from paying their employees a living wage.. you would think in the end that it would cost the company more $$ to advertise, obtain, and train employees. and then of course the service is what suffers most. But then they just deduct it as a loss and rake in even more, and the losers are the tax payers. I'm not saying a fast food employee should be put on a starting wage of $15.00 like a lot of idiots are proposing.. But theres no benefits to make one want to put more effort into doing a good job anymore.

I know I kinda looped completely around the original topic, but its still the same, if companies would give their employees incentive to do a better job, and to stay with the company it would free up a lot of this "corporate welfare" and the consumer, and average citizen would be "winners" again.. and we would'nt have a bag of cold food thrown at us by someone who's attitude resembles that of a zombie at McD's any more. I guess I'm getting old.. I remember a time when workers would say "Hello", "Please", and "Thank You" and even have substance to their conversations. now if we even get that, it's scripted.. ugh..

Exactly! Instead, they come into an area a year or so before they decide to set up shop, and pay off city and state officials to allow them to put their felonius and under-insured drivers on the road. I'm sure there are some great, very professional drivers who work for Uber, but I would'nt ride with them. I't's a gamble.. Get out with one who is under-insured and get in a bad wreck, and you're pretty much screwed.

it's probably very dangerous and not worth it most of the time.
he should get a 18 year old heroin addict and make her strip.
he would make a lot more money per night.
