This is odd. I just stumbled across that my message base for Dovenet->General has not been working correctly for about a month.

Error log:
Tue Aug 09 2016 01:20 pm bbs.emeraldhill.org
ERROR 2 (No such file or directory) in qwktomsg.cpp line 486 writing "/sbbs/data/subs/dove-general" access=-102 info=invalid index offset: 1060, byte offset: 21200, length: 20000

These are the files that are in /sbbs/data/subs related to Dovenet->General: dove-general.hash
dove-general.sch
dove-general.sdt
dove-general.shd
dove-general.sid

Whats the proper way to get this message base working properly again?

looks like there might be some corruption, there's a few SMB utilities in the /exec directory: chksmb and fixsmb
