you have too much blind faith in our sad space program.

i do not believe we sent a crew of people and had them land on the moo and come back in 1969.

Ok... you have the right ot have your opinion, just as I have the right t believe you're an idiot for having this opinion.

You're doing this person a favour. If they choose to be annoyed by your comments, that's their own problem.

When you post a long message online, it's automatically going to be skipped over by the vast majority of readers because TL;DR. When you format it horribly, you lose most of the remaining potential readers. Yet you actually took the time to *write* that message and post it for all to see, which implies that you *wanted* it to be read. It's worth going to the "trouble" of hitting your Enter key now and again, unless you want to basically flush your words down the toilet.

(And IMHO it's somewhat rude to post a wall of unbroken / unpunctuated / horribly misspelled text / rambling text. You're asking people to dive into your stream of consciousness and attempt to follow along in order to decipher your message, because you just can't be bothered to present them with something that's easier to consume.)

wow dude you are dumb..... and insane..... an astoroid hit the moon and sent rocks out way...... and yet out of all the places they could have landed they somehow got into nasas hand.... very believable.... furthure we have this thing called an atmosphere which causes things that reenter to burn up.... so there would be no rocks nor would there be hundreds of pounds of rocks braught back over many missions and for the few small peases that could have survived, helium 3 is released from moon rock when heated to 600 degrease objects entering out atmosphere get heated up to about 3000 degrease which means there would be no helium 3 in the rocks also the rocks (in they survived) would be subject to glassing and there was none, and lastly THERE WAS NO DOCUMENTED EVENT OF A FUCKING METEOR HITTING THE FUCKING MOON AND SENDING DEBREE OUT WAY FOR THE HUNDRED PLUS YEARS THAT WE STARTED DOCUMENTING THAT SHIT!! so your very unscientific and poorly thaught out deduction holds no water.... go back to sleep dude....

oh by the way that also means you deduction about they lying does not hold water, however yes they COULD have lied but that was not the point i was making, i said i thing 11,000 people have the intellegence to make a rocket to go to the moon in 1960's, i was not talking about whether it was likely they where lying.....

He is a fucking troll with no life, instead of arguing the points with me, he goes out of his way to do a bacground search on me and divulge my lifes history for everyone on dovenet.. who cares that I used to bang morphines like they were candy, did'nt hurnt no one here back in the day (it might actually helped them because I was on the BBS 24/7 helping out) I'm 5+ years clean and MRO the super troll starts dragging my dreary past up, shows you how much of a life this peice of shit has.. did a background search on me, but was too cheap to actually pay for it because he had a few points wrong. This dude don't have to even admit that he is wrong to stop all of this, all he has to do is STFU.. simple as that.. be he still cannot do that.. Say what you want about my History Mroblivious1BMF (Mro) it is'nt anything that anyhere here does'nt already know.. or if they don'nt I dont care to let them know.. 2 3rds of the WORLD is addicted to SOME sort of chemical, So I am not ashamed of ANY of my past, and have learned from it. Cybergod, I realize this is written to you, but this is to MRO, and he WILL see it, because ANYTHING that has the letters MRO in it he WILL look at.. btw.. WE DID LAND ON THE MOON... Wanker.

It's not about being scared. Just that negativity and arguing gets old, and people tire of being around that. Some people just seem to enjoy drama and negativity. Many people don't.

Fixed term contract doesn't necessarily mean being fired. In the IT industry, at least, I've noticed a lot of companies bringing in people as contract workers. It seems fairly common these days.

I get called about permanent roles (mostly in the UK) at least weekly, but almost always turn them down because the day rate + freedom of contracting
    is awesome.

If I were single and didn't have a house, I probably wouldn't mind
working in a different country for a little while.. I like traveling
and learning about different cultures. Some people just like that kind
    of thing.

I'm one of them - I've lived in 7 countries so far, and by technically being
on a foreign "cammandment" through my faily company (which invoices the
client) I can do things like write off my flights, car rental, rent etc.
which brings down my effective tax rate a LOT.

And of course as it's "short term projects" they pay phenomenally well
compared to a full-time position - the budgets come from entirely different corporate (you're not headcount, you're basically a bought service) though

You understand the concept of a fixed term contract? Of course you don't, because you're a total loser. What is it you even actually DO aside from throw hissy fits because nobody gives a fuck about your "Reliable shitty BBS services since 1997"..

If I were single and didn't have a house, I probably wouldn't mind
working in a different country for a little while.. I like
traveling and learning about different cultures. Some people just
    like that kind of thing.

I'm one of them - I've lived in 7 countries so far, and by technically being on a foreign "cammandment" through my faily company (which invoices the client) I can do things like write off my flights, car rental, rent etc. which brings down my effective tax rate a LOT.

And of course as it's "short term projects" they pay phenomenally well compared to a full-time position - the budgets come from entirely different corporate (you're not headcount, you're basically a bought service) though the position I am interviewing for next week (in Luxembourg, "ERHMMUHGURG HE'S MOVING AGAIN, LOOK AT THAT LOSER" - Luxembourgh actually rocks) is more or less a permanent role for which they're hiring people on as contractors because of the way things work within that pat of the client org.

I might be nervous doing that though, always thinking about how/when I'm going to find my next project. I think the flexibility could be cool, but there's a lack of job stability that could make me nervous. And it seems you wouldn't have company-provided health insurance or 401k, unless perhaps you work consistently for a contracting company that moves you to different short-term projects.

    Here's what you stated:

"i know what i'm talking about. sampsa is a bullshit artist that goes around and loses jobs. i've seen him do it for several years."

"yeah but i'm not a narcissist who cant hold down a job and HAS [caps mine]

Both of which are untrue and libellous defamation of character.

The libel is a civil offence I'll be pursuing in the UK, and the criminal defamation charges will be pressed agianst you in the Finland and Quebec.

This is serious libel in a public forum, I'm have a chat with out holding company lawyers next week.

    good, please do that.

Yup, already in the pipeline. I'll post a copy of the police charge request next week.

I'm entirely serious, you are libelling me and defaming my character
unlawfully in a public forum. The fact you're an asshole and this is
happening over a BBS message network will NOT change the fact that:

    a) What you said is untrue and could cause real damage to my reputation
    b) You stated it in written form in a public forum that is also visible
    to the whole Internet.

So I'm pretty sure it won't get laughed out of court as it meets all the
legal criteria for libel in the UK (which is where my BBS is, so that sets
the jurisdiction for the civil trial) and criminal defamation in Finland.

You think I'm fucking around? You'll see.

Sorry for interjecting here, but... Usually suing someone for libel, requires the complaintant
to be able to provide sufficient evidence that his/her image was defamed/impacted.

This, is BBS network echo, and I don't think that for other than for the comedic attraction/value of your conversations, anyone is taking either of you two
    youngsters seriously.

Arguing, like two 12 year olds on a school yard.

The question is, are we alone? Did we have help? What technology does the government have now that we don't have? Consider the possibility that there were other variables at play.

i think we were going to attempt it, and something or things went wrong and there was so much pressure they faked it. the pressure back then was huge. if we didnt get there first, we were scum. russia was the better country.
the astronauts were worried they would die and they couldnt even get
    life insurance policies.

the russians were just better at all that shit at that time because they took the risks. this was a way to show them who was the best in the world. that's how shit was back then.

some day when we're about to kick off, maybe we'll see definitive proof about this.

today (thank God) the rug-rats were out with a vengance. They usually don't like cancelling school here because the parents complain it messes up their vacations (since we have a shorter summer vacation).

Personally I think we should have school year round... the kids test scores suck... and my tax money paid for air conditioners in the schools.

Since the schools are now air conditioned (they were not when I was in school) then no excuse not to have year round. If the kids want a vacation they can earn xxx days by showing up and making good grades... then they can use their excused days.

    Anyone got snow?

Columbus, OH - 1 inch the other day. It's freaking cold now between 3'F to maybe 30'F.

Next they are predicting 62'F on Saturday. And everyone wonders why they're getting sick around here...

It iced the roads over pretty bad, took my trusty front wheel drive minivan out and paced it around 15-20 mph.. there were people all in the ditches, etc.. DOn't believe the roads were prepped for it at all it was packed powder atop of ice, the the powder started melting into pure
ice.. a lot has melted off now, but they'll be a lot of black ice
    tonight.

Around here, they started salting a full 24 hours before anything even happened. It was snowing pretty heavy here right before noon. Then the
storm pulled out to sea and went farther north.

Another 200 miles west and we would have been hammered.

Sounds like the weather here... it's scientifically proven that temperature does not make anyone sick... what happens is we concentrate our population inside and do not get enough sunlight which makes natural immunity.

What causes people to get sick when the weather warms up is we get out and "mingle" more passing our infections around when the weather warms. When it warms up and you go out pay attention to how many kids (mommie's little germ sprinklers) sit in shopping carts coughing and not covering their faces.

Anyone (kid or adult) who is actively infectious and coughing spreads germs in a 4 foot circle around them. I've always been told it's the law of 4x4... 4 feet around the person and 4 minutes for the germs to settle after coughing.

That's why I hate traveleing on an airplane or bus in this weather. They are nothing but cylinders of infection with air circulation systems. If I must take the bus right now, I wear a surgical mask and use hand sanitizer every half hour.

I've not had a cold in over 7 years so I must be doing something right. I was a patient in an "infection control" study that addressed the rule of 4x4.

I also cringe at the rudeness of most people... covering your face with a tissue or hand is not enough... if you have to cough cough into the back of your elbow using the fabric of your sleve as a filter.

Sneezes can propel germs up to 16 feet... they are even worse and more infectious.

It's also more important to take the following supplements... Vitamin D, Zinc, Magnesium, and C (Preferrable both esther C and Ascorbic Acid C). While my doctor does not like tanning beds for "tanning" she does not have a problem with a 1-2 minute quickie to stimulate vitamin D production and boost
    immunity.

Not to mention cheap immigrant labor who will pick tomatoes for pennies.

we don't have immagrant labor around here, the farms around here were all family run and the labor was done by family (this is why we still have longer summer breaks then neigboring counties) we have *legal* immigrants working in our carpet mills (we are the carpet capital of the world) and out area still has one of the HIGHEST unemployment rates in the nation, yet just about anyone can go out and get a job somewhere if they tried hard enough (as long as they piss clean and not a felon) so I don't blame our unemployment problem on immigration, I blame it on corporate greed, employee laziness, and Drugs.

Sounds like the weather here... it's scientifically proven that temperature does not make anyone sick... what happens is we concentrate our population inside and do not get enough sunlight which makes natural immunity.

Exactly, I feel better after going out walking in *fairly* cold weather, it feels like it opens my lungs up for easier breathing.

What causes people to get sick when the weather warms up is we get out and "mingle" more passing our infections around when the weather warms. When it warms up and you go out pay attention to how many kids (mommie's little germ sprinklers) sit in shopping carts coughing and not covering their faces.

I always mind my "personal bubble" and expect others to mind it to, when going to grocery store I clean the carts (how many nasty germs could you imagine on that thing) and will only kiss my neices, etc on the forehead ( let them know it is to not spread germs)

Some may get pissed at me for saying this, but I have NEVER had a FLU shot, nor have I ever had the flu, and cannot remember the last time I had a cold, I usually get some food borne illnes around the holidays so I think I will just stop eating on the holidays.

I also cringe at the rudeness of most people... covering your face with a tissue or hand is not enough... if you have to cough cough into the back of your elbow using the fabric of your sleve as a filter.

Yes, this is the best way, and if someone goes chewing on the back of your elbow later in the day, its their own damn fault..

It's also more important to take the following supplements... Vitamin D, Zinc, Magnesium, and C (Preferrable both esther C and Ascorbic Acid C). While my doctor does not like tanning beds for "tanning" she does not have a problem with a 1-2 minute quickie to stimulate vitamin D production and boost immunity.

I have to admit, I don't many supplements at all, I try to get as many vitimans as I can through food, but cannot take vitiamins because they screw with my stomach.

Very smart stuff here, try doing all this while driving a cab, especially a SHARED cab, one that you have to share with another driver who has had it 12 hours before you doing god know what in it.. You should see all the crap I go through to get prepared for a shift.

The cheaper ones yes... Vitamin D is in and out of the body so fast that the mega does is the only way to get it to be theraputic. Even in nature when we had the natural sun exposure the vitamin was in and out but we had a lot more going in, so the "leakage" was aceptable.

Vitamin C comes in two forms... the ascorbic acid will cause you diarhea in high dosages. Esther C doesn't and is more bioavailable than ascorbic acid. What's lacking in our diets are not so much the viatmins as the trace
minerals. Zinc, selenium, magnesium, and etc are trace minerals that our mass produced food just doesn't pull up from the ground anymore. Personally I take a zinc supplement which feeds the immune system... along with l-lysene which destroys viruses.

I haven't had any colds or cold sores in a VERY logn time. I also try to eat fresh foods and in the absence of fresh veggies I will choose frozen with canned as a LAST resort only.

Thats exactly what it is, I try my best not to ever brake when driving on that crap, these people were probably even being stupid enough to play around. when the only peole on the hwy are you and people turned over in ditches when you approach a stop sign at the bottom of a hill, if everything is clear, I keep going.. bever hit over 20mph, and give myself a good 100ft buffer zone to stop.

was going through a roundabout and my rear end started sliding, turned my wheels into the slide and pushed the accelerator a bit and it immediatly came out of the slide, slowly turned wheel back to right while accelerating and drifted back onto hwy like there never was an issue.

Our Infrastucture here in N Georgia is not made for snow/ice, and we do not have the equipment necessary to deal with, most brine/salt/sand trucks were working interstates, all highways and secondaries never were treated.

i'm not so sure it helps with acceleration. it helps with TRACTION.
all my wheels are digging in through the snow instead of just 2 wheels.

having something that helps with breaking would be bad in the snow; you'd just skid out.

it's best to have traction and control and then lower your speed and then ease into breaking. also when i make turns i turn off the 4x4 because you can hit a slippery spot and then hit a bare spot in the road and break a tie rod.

I also have their "living water" purifier and it has UV Sterilization with the water. I guess it was a nice gesture on his part, but he could have at least asked what the hell I needed. or just sent the 50 bucks and I would have purchased myself if he was THAT needy for my RLOGIN server, he did this for HIS benefit, as well as probably 25 others because I ran a very popular rlogin game server for LINUX BBS systems (and any others) to connect to and had some very good games going. so whatever bullshit was fed to you (if you did'nt make it up yourself) was a lie. for itself in that weather by not getting you stranded.

My 4x4 isn't my daily driver, but does wonders when the weather outside is frightful.

back when i was a kid, people new how to drive in the snow. now, it doesn snow that much, so people think it's smart to drive 80mph in snow and slush in
their front wheel drive car. i have a suv and love it. bad for gas consumption, but never been stuck and i hardly slip.
I was raised in Louisiana, with Zero Snow in 10-15 years, once in a blue moon, we'd get about 1/16th inch of snow, just enough to paint the town white. A while back, when traveling from Missouri to Arizona, around Texas, while carrying my fifth wheel, I hit a patch of solid snow, packed on the road and started skidding. I turned the wheel to avoid hitting my wife's car, and the truck spun around in a 180 degree turn, at which point, I jack-knifed the trailer, and broke the back glass of my pickup truck. Very Cold driving it to the first available RV spot! What's worse, at the time, my RV plug came unplugged, so I had no trailer brakes. Had I had trailer brakes, I'm positive I could have stopped the truck and trailer in time....

i drink makers mark whiskey on the rocks, or with pepsi max.
i think the way to stay healthy is to stay away from children and

    wow sounds pretty scarey.

what i learned about driving in the snow since i was 12 is dont tailgate, and if you start to slide, ride it out. dont hit the breaks or turn. it's important to keep calm.

But on the downside, I quit smoking on 7/1/16 and gained 30 pounds, which I've lost 10 of that in the past week. Hopefully this year, I'd like to get down to 215. I'd go for 200 but that's gonna take a lot of work. I started 2017 at 290 pounds. You'ld never know I weight that much if you didn't ask.

Two years ago here in the CMH area, it was a horrible snow season. I'd see morons fly by me on the city streets high-side it because their truck could drive through anything. Here I come (at the time) with my 2011 Chevy Impala trotting along in 2nd, and never had an issue. That car was great in the snow.

My sister was just daignosed with COPD, I Kind of figured it for a while now, she gets short of breath walking from her car into the house and wheezes all the time. She had an infection setup in her lungs from something which exacerbated the ordeal, Now she's on oxygen and is scared. I told her, don't scare yourself so bad, now that you have stopped the cigs your lung function will come back with time, she is already able to go without the oxygen for a couple hours on and off, and her wheezing has stopped. so I think her spirits are getting higher. I had made a pact with her that I would stop smoking cigs with her, and I plan on sticking with it. I have already cut back that much, and I already hate them, it should'nt be too hard to completely stop ( I Hope).

Pepsi seems to have done away with the Throwback name - I haven't seen Throwback in stores for a couple years, at least. The current packaging says "Pepsi with Real Sugar" or some such. I'm not sure if the formula is any different from Throwback, but probably not..

it's the same. still doesnt taste as good as the real sugar stuff i had when i was a kid.

once you stop taking in corn syrup, when you DO have it , you taste it for how it really is. it tastes greasy.

i like pepsi max because of the zero calories and the bad chemicals.

Asculfume Potassium bonded with aspartame isn't a bad chemical? Might want to examine things a bit closer.

I've noticed that, I have made a serious drop in my soda intake, driving a taxi can be real bad for you. I've replaced most of the soda with water, and coffee when I need caffeine, I usually do one soda a day now and I notice the thick greasy feeling sticking to my throat and teeth. just nasty.. wish I could find something with cane sugar in it.. or at least sugar instead of cs.

I gotta say though, it seems like this thread has become the catch-all for pretty much any subject. Studded tires? How did we get from "Fake moon landings" to studded tires?? WHEN WILL THE MADNESS END, AND A NEW THREAD BEGIN!?

The fake moon landing thread started in 1972 after the Apollo 16 tape glitch, I don't see it going anywhere any time soon.

Well, this thread doesn't necessarily prevent others from starting or continuing, so it doesn't need to be a sticking point. It'll die off in (over)due time. Maybe some other topic will stir up discussion.

    Here's a new one...

That's fighting words here in Kentucky. I dare you to stand in the town's square at Clermont or Bardstown and say that. Technically it is... but not all whiskey's can be Bourbon.

It's made in Kentucky 24 miles

I dont care, i'm not planning of visiting kentucky

You really should sometime... we have the Kentucky Bourbon Trail where you c go from distillery to distillery and sample... and it's awesome.

It has a high sugar content so using Pepsi Max is kind
    of counterproductive.

    PEPSI MAX HAS NO SUGAR.

and i try not to drink corn syrup and it tastes like a good enough mixer for me.

Get some pepsi throwback... it makes a big big difference (Throwback uses ca sugar) so does Mexican Coke. But I much prefer to do it the Kentucky way an use the local Double Cola (RC Cola isn't RC anymore) which still uses cane sugar too.

Can you find Double Cola, or Ski, in Louisville anywhere? I can find Ski
here in Frankfort (shelved with Ale-8-1), but the closest place I have been able to find Double Cola is in Millersburg... unless Cracker Barrel has it in stock.

BTW, Double Cola is not bottled locally anymore. Greensburg Bottling was bought out by Coke some time ago. They soon closed the plant. Coke bought it mostly for their distribution routes... or, more likely, to get rid of DC.
Coke was still distributing Ski in Western Kentucky as of a few years ago because it was so much more popular than Mello-Yello.

Now, if you consider Evansville "local," the RC bottler there distributes both RC and DC products. Nearly all Ski you find in cans and plastic bottles in KY will be marked with the Evansville code. Apparently, RC (or at least Evansville RC) didn't mind the competition like Coke does.

Most "sugar cane" bottled DC and Ski, like you might find at Cracker Barrel,
    is bottled in Illinois.
