Anyone here heard of Haiku OS before. I remember finding it years ago
and I do frequently try it out but I wanted to know if anyone here has used it or is a user of it.

I have heard of it. It is an open-source "sequel" to the abandonware BeOS.
I had a BeOS boot partition on a machine for a while. It was the only machine I had that BeOS would install on. I played with it every now and then, and eventually replaced it with an Haiku release. I eventually needed the PC for something else, so the BeOS/Haiku partition is long gone now.
On at least one of the networks I am on, I think someone is using it as their OS of choice for their BBS.
... Computer Hacker wanted. Must have own axe.

I have used it on occasion. Haiku is so under funded and under staffed. Regular
Linux can do so much more.
It's not the fault of the haiku people, just a side effect of a gigantic group
compared to a tiny one development wise.
I just installed it virtually about 4 months ago. I went online with it, but it
couldn't recognize me network printer.
It's seriously under powered compared to Linux.

I really want to try the OS out tho i have seen good things about it.
And it being linux you can fix the bugs and crap in it so its like theres no way of helping them out or unless its closed then you will need to ask them about joining them

Haiku OS is based on BeOS, which was a finished commercial product. BeOS is longer developed anymore, since Be Inc. went out of business, but if you wan to see how Haiku should look and function, perhaps you could try BeOS. It's fairly old though (from 1999-2001) and probably wouldn't work well with mode hardware.

I think Haiku OS is POSIX-compliant, but I wouldn't say it's Linux.

It is... Recently they've launched a new Alpha for it... You can easily Google
its main website.
The problem is when it comes to finding apps for it.
