here - what he wrote is visible on dozens of websites now etc. and it's lies and defamatory.

The guy called me a con artist that keeps getting fired from jobs - that crossed a line and affects my reputation if any of these messages are Google indexed so I'm now basically in a position where I have to take action to defend my professional reputation.

If you're talking about the twit thats in my list that cannot do anything but try to dig up dirt on people by using free online sources and using real-estate data, etc. then libels your name and reputation, then makes a bad situation (long fight with drug addiction) even worse by throwing your history you've fought so hard to clean up out for everyone to see, than I don't see why anyone would NOT want to giv the POS a hard time. he sits and says EVERYONE obviously is a broke, no job having, living off their parents peice of crap, when he is this only one that has time to post all this bullcrap. He's posted on his website that he's giving up.. well fare well MRO, a little joking around, etc about moons and what not is one thing, but libel and slander is a completely different ballgame, and the POS can go to a warm place with no sunscreen for all I care. I don't care to joke with people, poke a little fun, whatever. but this dude is like SUPER TROLL on meth... I stated I would not ever mention his name again because he is on my twitlist and it is't fair, but he is NO GOOD for the BBS community. He runs more people away from this hobby than he helps. I almost let him run me off one last time, then thought.. fuck him, I'm stronger than that. He's the idiot I'm not, everything he says about other people is just a reflection on his own life. I bet it's sad and lonely, but he created it.

a few months ago, he said the EXACT SAME almost verbatim crap to me, except the fact he also said I conned sysops out of money and was a drug dealer/user. I'm the first to admit I am and addict, I even admitted then, but I've been clean for 6+ years and worked hard to fix my record. he tries to bring people down to his level, he said I conned sysops, I never asked ANYONE for anything, one kind person offered to send me parts when my machine got fried in a storm and I obliged, but never did I ask anyone for anything. You know from our coversations my stand on that. If I cannot pay for it or build it myself, I don't want it.

Hopefully he'll live up to his promise he left on his website..

the only thing i ever said is i ran into another bbs sysop who gave him stuff for his bbs and he ended up selling it for drug money.
which he did probably due that because he had a big drug problem which he was talking about back then.

Yup, I didn't care about his bullshit until it went into blatant libel and defamaton. At this point if I do nothing and this shit shows up in a Google Search, I might lose potential clients. He refuses to retract and apologise, I'm going to have to take the necessary actions to protect my reputation.

I even netmailed him saying I'll drop all this if he just retracts his claims and apologises, but no go.

So here we are. Once this matter is with my the police and my lawyers I'll merely post whom he can contact to settle this before it goes further as of course he's too much of a coward to post using his real identity, but that
will be the last on the matter I'll bother the rest of you with.

I don't mind a bit of trolling like Tim here but this time that asshole has crossed a line, fuck this, I'm not taking this lying down.

You are correct sir, and as I stated, I've worked damn hard to clean my name, Its bad enough that someone with my same name in the same county I live in is on the sex offender list, luckily those include pictures and middle names though, but that still has caused issues. its hard enough as it is, then theres some yahoo running around spreading false accusations and rumours, I guess he thinks he is some big shot detective or something because he did a name search on me and figured out who lives in my household. though if you don't pay for the full check, it don't show who the HEAD of the household is, etc.. he was spewing off that I live in my parents basement, leeching off them, ripping SysOps off, etc. The only thing I have EVER done for the BBS community is try my best to help it. And at one time, so did he..

as you say, there is a place to draw a line in the sand, and for someone who would have more time on their hands than sanity, they could search the dovenet database and just about find the same messages from me to him VERBATIM, there is a BIG difference in calling someone a moron because they believe the moon don't exist for Russia or whatever, and caling them a CRIMINAL. I don't think he knows that difference.

I'm one person who would be quick to jump someones bones for threatining legal action over something that is written in message bases, but after dealing with this gentleman, I had to change my mind.

Yup and he thinks he somehow untouhable but finding out who he is and where
to send the civil suit will be pretty easy once his EU-based hosting provider (OVH) turns over the details when I send the a copy of a Finnish police
report and the shit he's saying about me.

Thing is, defamation isn't just a civil matter in Finland, France (OVH home country) or Quebec - it's a criminal one.

It might take a while for me to find the guy but it'll happen, and I've got a nice firm of No Win-No Fee libel lawyers in London that'll be looking into
the case the moment I do get his info. Also most UK court judgements are collectable in the US so if he loses (I doubt he can afford to travel to the
UK AND hire a decent lawyer to defend himself, not that I'm saying he shouldn't, I thoroughly encourage him to attend the proceedings) I'm pretty sure that law firm will stick debt collectors on his sorry ass (I don't care about the money, the law firm that operates on a percentage of the judgements sure as hell do)..

So yeah, Mro will have an interesting spring.

You clearly do not understand UK libel law - anything that you say that is untrue in a public forum, whether it's a BBS (which by the way is no

a freaking poster on a wall, that is untrue and likely to cause me
reputational damage makes you guilty of libel. You did this on a message network that also exists on the web.

Whether you used a pseudonym or not to make it makes no difference as I, the target of the libel AM easily identifiable.

I'm entirely certain I have more than one leg to stand on, you just think
that because you wrote it on a BBS message network (that has a web interface
is dozens of places, effectively making it the same as posting it on
Facebook, more or less) it somehow makes it not libel which is frankly so idiotic I don't know where to begin.

I'll post the police report I've filed on you to get your details from the hosting providers publicly on Monday, you can see from that if I'm serious or not.
