• OSU shootings/stabbings :(

From Hylian@VERT to All on Mon Nov 28 11:12:43 2016
After the OSU shooting this morning, I figured everyone could use this shot in the arm.

The End of Suffering Is at Hand!
Imagine a world free of crime, warfare, sickness, and natural disasters. An end of suffering would also mean no worries about discrimination or oppression. How?

https://goo.gl/Ea5uXq (Yes, I shortened the url with google url shortener, it was crazy long.)

Hopefully we won't see one of these for either a very long time, or never again.

It's getting to the point that I don't want to watch the news.

It's beliefs like that that allow people to let themselves commit crimes or warfare, allow sickness to spread and believe that natural disasters are evil.

Try a combo of BBC international, Al Jazeera English and NPR plus reading the CFR's "Foreign Affairds" - between those point of view you generally get some idea of what's actually going on.

US media is dreadfully biased, I can't watch CNN or MSNBC either anymore and FOX was never better than Russia Today on a bad day.

In Australia, we at least have the ABC, which has a good reputation, as well as SBS, which is particularly good for international news. Yes, BBC and Al Jazeera are fairly good outlets too.

Commercial news services here tend to be more biased and of a poorer standard, often going for sensationalism over facts. As for newspapers, anything with News Corp as an owner is not much good for anything other than lining bird cages or starting fires. :)
