I like the concept of a sit-stand desks. However, where I work, they only have the traditional sitting desks. There is an option where my employer can get one, but I hate to ask for one and have them pay $100's just for my comfort.

I suppose it does depend on what you do most of the day. I sit a good majority of the day and would like to stand and work every now and then.

The point: maybe it's better to switch up during the day.

Yeah, I feel bad asking for laptop upgrades at work, even if I could probably use it, knowing the department would have to pay for it.

When they rebuilt one of our warehouse locations and moved our IT office into their, one of the things they added was the elevated desks so you could stand if you want. Was a great addition IMO. Not a 'have to have' feature, but when it's there it's nice.

Interesting. I also am standing and walking most of the day, and like to
sit when I'm at my desk. But my wife also is up and about all day, and
prefers a standing desk, which she has.

    I guess it's just preference.

If you have an office or desk job, do you prefer a
traditional sitting desk, satanding desk, or a sit-stand
desk? I've noticed sit-stand desks becoming more common
    where I work.

I discovered the standing desks back in 2014 at the office place in Seattle and I thought it was a great one to have.
A year after I had surgery: cervical disk replacement, and having a standing desk at home was extremely helpful. I got a stool so I sit or stand up whenever I need and I feel my back far better than in the past.

SO, I got a good experience from that side. And right now typing all this from my standing desk (but sitting down as I haven't got my first coffee of the day just yet!! :D )

My last company has an office in Boston overlooking the river downtown.
They had a row of treadmill desks that we called "Zombie" desks because
people would be on conference calls with a laptop on the tray, shuffling
    along like, well, a zombie.

Do you have room to setup a second workstation that you can setup with a "Standesk 2200"? That's how I beta-tested a sit/stand day, and after several months my employer bought a proper sit/stand desk since it was clear I enjoyed being able to switch it up.

I would have felt bad asking without having tried it out first (what if I hated it after they spent all that money...), but if they hadn't offered to buy a new desk by the 6 month mark I would have had no problem asking because it really did make a huge difference for me (used to have back pain, which went away once I started standing half the day)
