Cool. Never heard that song before. I like it.
I'm a little surprised, but also not at the same time. The Traveling Wilburys were made up of all musicians who were fairly big (or had been big) and relatively at the time: Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, and Roy Orbison. But I don't think I know many people who are familiar with The Traveling Wilburys. :)
Yes, I know who they are, but I've never really thought about listening to their stuff. All great musicians and songwriters in their own right, it's quite a "supergroup". It might have been teh fact that I don't carew much for Bob Dylan, was never a big Beatles fan and didn't listen to much TP & HB either. 3/5th of them are gone now.
Ah. I never really listened to Roy Orbison or Jeff Lynne's stuff, but I like the Traveling Wilburys music. I think the music is still good even if 3/5 of them are (sadly) gone.

Awesome band. Before they came out, George Harrison had a solo album with Jeff Lynne on some of the tunes, and it reminds me very much of the Wilbury sound.
I read an interview with Paul McCartney, and he said he loaned his basement recording studio to the guys so they could work on songs together. He said several nights it sounded like an wonderful jam on party, and he would fight the urge to go downstairs and play with them. Due to contract obligations with whatever label he was with, he couldn't perform for a rival label.
i saw tom petty live in an outdoor setting and he sounded just the same or better than his recordings. cant say that about a lot of people.

I hadn't seen Tom Petty live, but it would have been good to see him before passed away. That 'End Of The Line' video I posted earlier has an empty cha for Roy Orbison, who passed away before the album was released, and after To Petty passed away, I watched it again and felt sad since Tom Petty was one o the main singers on 'End Of The Line'.
I'll put it them on my 'to listen to' list.

Jeff Lynne has to be one of the most influential little known musician/producers of all time. He has worked alongside so many popular arti and also had his own amazing career with Electric Light Orchestra (ELO). I'd love to catch him live one day. The Wilburys were a pretty incredible and al under-rated lineup.

From what I remember, the story was that George Harrison's record company wa bout a new song, and Tom Petty came along with him, and they had gathered wi ole album's worth of songs, and that's how The Traveling Wilburys came about

Around that same time Clapton put out an album after he put out August that sounded like stuff he had left over from those sessions, plus random newer stuff. Of those newer songs, you can tell Harrison and Lynne were in the mix. I'm not well learned in chord names, but George used to build stuff over some type of diminished 7th chord (I may be wrong on name) and Eric would hate them because it felt odd soloing over them.
Cloud Nine is a great album. Sounds like cross between the two of them. There were a couple of songs in the charts from that one, if I remember correctly.

We could always do a voice chat like Digital Man recently set up with Mumble, or a video session with Zoom or something if people are so inclined.

I read somewhere that there were bootleg Traveling Wilburys recordings that were thought of as an unofficial Vol. 2, so that's why they went to Vol. 3 for their 2nd album.
Interesting this band sounds familiar, yet I had heard of them in such a long time.

Jeff Lynne was part of Electric Light Orchestra, a band that was around from 1972-86. After 86 he went on to write and collaborate with other musicians.
Examples of his role as producer are Harrison's Cloud Nine, Petty's Full Moon Fever and Into the Great Wide Open, McCartney's Flaming Pie and Bryan Adams' Get Up.

Maybe not.. Now that I think about it, I think it was a song by Bob Dylan (who was also in The Traveling Wilburys).

There do seem to be a lot of good musicians from Britian. Some of my favorites are The Beatles (and separately Paul McCartney, George
Harrison, Ringo Starr, and John Lennon), Dire Straits (and Mark
Knopfler in his solo career), Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, and others.
Also Dirty Vegas is a British group that makes dance music (their song "Days Go By" was somewhat popular in 2002, and I also remember first hearing it in a Mitsubishi commercial on TV).
