    I came upon the flavoured waters only in the last year or so. They are an "ok" convenience for adding a little interest in plain water.

    They seem to be unlike the other (sugar loaded) sodas though.

    But nothing really beats pure ice-cold water from a well.

    i've had those flavored waters. they're not bad but nothing special.
    when i was walking and wanted flavor for my water i would get those drops.

    you guys never had my aunt's well water. bunch of frogs shitting in there.

    when i was younger there was some great fresh spring water my family would collect. it's probably all polluted.

    Gah! In the SF bay area, we got water from Hetch Hetchy, a reservoir near Yosemite. The water quality for municipal water is pretty amazing.

    I'm getting water from a couple of springs in my new location, and it's
    pretty damn hard. I've had to go through a couple of different pitcher
    types, finally settling on ZeroWater - they do a great job of getting rid of dissolved solids.

    I've never had water direct from a well, but I'm not sure I'd want to drink it without it being filtered or sanitized in some way.

    Like anything else, a good well is properly built and maintained. Notice that a traditional well has a wall around it fairly high above the ground. Even better ones have a way to cover them. Modern wells are just a spike in the ground that may have a way to add a sealed pump at the top.

    I've seen country wells that 3ft in diameter, are fairly close to the ground and have makeshift boarded covers. A lot of stuff like leaves, seeds, and even snakes can get into those.

    Yes.. some do end up destroyed by fracking and blasting in the area.

    when i was in virginia, all the water was from a well and tasted like sulfur. restaurants wouldnt let me bring in bottled water and i'd try their lemonaide, soft drinks and it tasted like BLEGH. so i drank beer like an alcoholic whenever i was out.

    if you have a clean well and you have the right type of minerals in the ground to filter the water it can be just as good as going through a filtration system.

    i used to build commerical water treatment systems and we would dump in bags of various minerals for the water to flow through.

    Oh, yes! I remember that there was a spring near my house growing up.

    Some had pounded a pipe into the side of the hill and soon water started coming out. It was always sweet and refreshing (granted, we mostly drank from it after playing in the hot summer days 8).

    I'd trade gin for vodka though. Someone once said to me that they couldn't understand how anyone could drink gin - it smelled like dirty socks. I never really thought of it that way - since most of the time it would be part of mix. But gin straight up is pretty foul.
