    exactly! just like fighting viri/malware, it will always be a never ending game of chase... just ask all the companies using DRM about that ;)


    I just learned about Fail2ban:

    " Fail2ban scans log files (e.g. /var/log/apache/error_log) and bans IPs
    that show the malicious signs -- too many password failures, seeking for exploits, etc. Generally Fail2Ban is then used to update firewall rules to reject the IP addresses for a specified amount of time, although any
    arbitrary other action (e.g. s ending an email) could also be configured."

    Makes sense to nip the problem in the bud and block the malicious IPs.
    Then there is less burden to supply new captchas.

    A must have utility, I use it on a server so heavily under attack from bots that it can refuse new connection attempts. Fail2ban keeps things to a dull roar. :)

    Apologies, I was quoting but that was something very old, a couple of months back. that was about using fal2ban as a firewall meassure and I also suggested csf.
