Aprox 1000000000-1500000000 for the end of life (due to increased
solar radiation vaporizing the oceans) and approx 5000000000 for
when the Sun vaprises the planet due to going red giant. :D

The world ended back in 2012 when the mayan calendar ran out. This is now purgatory.

The world has recovered from 4 near extinction events. It will
be fine. Humans, not so well.

You may want to read up on what happens when our Sun becomes a Red
Giant. The world won't be recovering from that. It's only a
matter of time - about 5 billion years.

Actuakky, as I implied a few days ago, scientists believe the
world will become inhabitable in 1 billion years or a bit after.
The reason is because the Sun is gradually heating up as it
consumes its fuel, and is already around 30% more luminous than
it was when it first formed. For the time being, the biosphere
is able to regulate the Earth's temperature, but eventually that
capacity will be exceeded. At that point, the oceans will
vaporise, and Earth could become a second Venus.

Ahhhh yes, I missed that part on the first reading. Very true,
and that will certainly be an interesting time the last few
centuries that humans can stand the temperatures. And here we are complaining about a little "global warming"... ;-)

I wasn't referring to the solar event mentioned above. Short of the
sun changing it's status, I feel most people still believe the world revolves around humankind, and the end of man would be a devastating event.

The issue with that "little bit of global warming" is that it's
faster than normal, which means ecosystems can't adapt as easily,
and with the breakup og habitat, it's harder for plants (via seed
spread) and animals to migrate to different temperature zones.
And it also has massive implications for agriculture.

No argument on any of that - was just poking a little fun at the difference between that and utter annihilation of the planet. ;-)
