Before VW self-destructed, I thought they could release a diesel
hybrid car - convert it to buidiesel and you'd have a car that would appeal to the most righteous of all alternative car buyers.

I've wondered why I haven't seen any hybrid diesel-electric cars.

Price margins are pretty tight in the US car market. A Toyota diesel automotive costs $1500-$2500 more than it's gas drinking sister, and companies that produce diesel cars internationally have had poor results with buyers getting over that slight price increase. Tack that on to a hybrid, and they would have a small group of interested buyers

I've heard of Toyota diesels, but I haven't actaully seen any of them in the

Yeah, but make it run on biodiesel, and every Kombucha-drinking,
whole-foods shopping, summer scarf and sandal-wearing, hemp clothing
hipster with a jute shopping bag, yerba mate gourd and man bun will
pay top dollar to be more earth friendly than you - and use every
opportunity to remind you of that!
