Ok, that makes no sense to me, could you clarify?
Gas has never been restricted, but they may add more taxes to
gasoline (on top of the 80 cents or so we already pay) especially as
per-gallon revenue plummet - MPG has gone up, people are driving less
because of COVID and electric vehicles aren't paying gas taxes. And,
as you know, we're already paying for California-specific
formulations.
Or, resurrect the notion of per-mile taxation, but no one's going to
want to be tracked by the government willingly. Maybe they make
Fastrak mandatory? There's already been some question as to how
closely they track individual cars, and Caltrans already got caught
once collecting more data than was agreed to.
