    I'm just pretending I have a job now... today:

    Nothing like having an extended weekend; I haven't played enough Rimworld, smoked enough weed, fucked around w/textmode stuff and put off the rear suspension on my car again.

    Boy are the next four days at work going to be busy! Thank goodness for this rest.

    I didn't think you could run an actual DOS with DOSBox; I thought DOSBox basically had its own implementation of a DOS environment. How is that different from running MS-DOS 6.22 in a VM with something like VMWare or VirtualBox etc.?

    It's similar.

    Instead of running its own environment, you create a blank disk image (basically a container file) and boot the DOS installation disk. from DOS setup, you format the disk image, install DOS on it, and when you boot again, you're running in DOS.

    The serial port redirection works, I can connect via Telix to port 23, and packet drivers work fine.

    I was messing around with some DOS ANCI Art programs I downloaded from different boards. I really wana try some stuff like WordStar, productivity type stuff. I wanted to try the Email-QWR/whatever the hell message and email download stuff so that I could see how powerful those features are for reading/writing with minimal connection time.

    i use something called kit, which is a pretty nice 32bit console text editor. not the greatest, but it works.

    Qedit burned the Wordstar command bindings into my brain, to this day.

    I did a NANOWRIMO with Qedit (and VDE) one year.
