  • Thieves Guild for the PC

    Hey guys,

    Last year I saved the Pascal source code to the Atari ST BBS door game "Thieves' Guild," as well as the Turbo Pascal code for a PC port.

    This PC version, though finished, seems never to have been distributed. Worse, the executable that I saved from the author's floppies would not run in DOSBOX, and log files from the same floppy indicated the program was broken in the same way back in 1995.

    Well, recently both Craig Hendricks and I have been able to compile the PC source code and get it running. I am currently testing Thieves' Guild PC on my BBS (guardian.synchro.net) and I believe Craig also has it on his Constructive Chaos BBS.

    Feel free to log in and check it out. On my BBS, it's in Externals > Games.

    Which sort of game is it?

    It's a roleplaying adventure game similar in spirit to LORD. But it's also a meta-BBS game, meaning that the frame story is that the player is a BBS user who has been sucked through a portal to another world, and is looking for a way back. If/when any player finds the way back home, the game resets.
