anybody here have tinnitus that is activated by something they
eat or high blood pressure? or stress?

Blood pressure and stress are KNOWN causes of tinnitus.

I seem to remember mro saying he more than one job, and/or works a lot. If he has to work multiple jobs to stay afloat, I'm not surprised he's under a lot of stress.

Yup, I recall the same thing. He's also mentioned that he's rather
obese and has high blood pressure, which is another trigger for
    tinnitus.

Some loud frequencies would make it sound like someone is drilling into my brain. My brother had a shitbucket of a truck, and he would crank it's shitty radio over the noise ofthe shitty exhaust. I cannot even stand listening to some bands such as Godsmack because they bring back memories of that noise.

i dont think you have tinnitus. i think you have some type of acute sensitivity to some types of sounds.

The volume seems based on stress and tension and I suspect is a form of somatic tinnitus, caused by the neck, which explains why pressing my head changes the volume. You can tap the back of your head with your fingers for 30 seconds, which can help, but only for a moment.

Haven't thought of diet, but I don't think that makes a difference. Stress definately does play a role.

i think some people think that a lot of activity like blood flow around that area can cause tinnitus. i thought having a lot of salt contributed to this.

now i think i might be getting sick with something and that's why it's kicked off.

I get that too. Sometimes some frequencies will case some "vibration" in my head, which feels and sounds like a rapid pulsing in my inner ear. Sometimes it is speech which does that. It feels like a rapid palpitation in the inner ear.

    That is different to tinnitus.

i try to avoid damaging my ears because I really use my sense of hearing a lot. i wonder if this type of issue is from listening to loud music or some other source

I always bring some small ear plugs if i'm at a place and they are going nuts with the music.

I used to shoot and i always had hearing protection.

With some firearms it is best to double up on hearing protection. A pair of in-ear buds and over the ear headphones make it bearable for long term
shooting sessions. Several years ago my brother bought a Russian M-44, which is essentially a shorted barrel carbine version of a 91/30 Mosin Nagant. Sinc e the 7.62x54R cartridge was designed for use in a longer 20-24" barrel,
not all the powder is burned up when used in a 16" barrel. The result is a large fireball and louder report. My brother referred it as being the "hearin g loss beginner's kit." 50 BMG is another round it is best to double up on protection.

I suspected it was exposure to loud noise, but I haven't actually really been exposed to loud noises. Once my tinnitus went nuts after standing in front of a speaker while seeing a Metallica tribute band, and I wear earplugs now at any loud concert. But apart from that, I haven't really gone shooting or to loud clubs every weeks, and I think I had ringing from as a teen. I don't have signs of hearing loss.
I have ALWAYS been sensetive to loud noises and my hearing has always been sensetive.
Nevertheless, the tinnitus has made me extra cautious about protecting my hearing.

i think there can be a lot of causes. stress, a virus, sound damage.

i also notice when i'm under stress i get it even if my vitals are normal.

Anybody here have tinnnitus that's not from having damaged hearing?

Yes. I've had it since I was a kid. I remember taking hearing tests and raising my hand when I heard the beeeep. The technition said I was being a wise ass because she hadn't made the beeeep yet. Anyway. I have it. It's gotten worse as I get older. I used to pound down a lot of beer to silence the ringing. White noise is a sanity saver for me. So why are you asking MRO?
