Very cool! I especially like the loops and views of the club house. Is this the new location? Did you have 2 cams and edit between them together or 2 different flights/cam angles and spliced them together?

    I think so! :-)

    new location?

Yes. It's come on very well since we moved, only just a year ago.

Did you have 2 cams and edit between them together or 2 different flights/cam angles and spliced them together?

I made two flights, following as close as I could the same pattern the
second time, as the first. Then I edited them together into one video. Otherwise, since the plane angles up and down, you spend half the time
looking at a blue sky, which isn't all that interesting.

I actually came close to "losing it" during one run. At about 2:30, right after a loop, I pull the nose up and throw it into a roll. By time the
roll reaches a full invert, the nose drops and she starts to head for
ground. If you watch the elevator surface, you see I had to yank *hard*
back to get her out before she smacked the dirt! It was a very windy, blustery day, and that Elder has a high-drag airframe, so I don't feel too embarassed.

I was able to frame-grab a couple interesting stills from the Video:

    http://www.barbadosrc.org/members/AngusM/gallery/aircraft/elder.airborn-02.jpg http://www.barbadosrc.org/members/AngusM/gallery/aircraft/elder.airborn-04.jpg

but rez is only 640x480 as per Video mode. The camera will also take 1280x1024 stills and can be set to take one shot every 4 seconds. I'll experiment with that later, but right now I'm playing with the Video
    function.

Yep, new toy well worth 75 bucks! :-)

    Hello Angus,

I agree, very nice. nice music to go with it, had it open full screen and speakers turned up.

What kind of cameras did you use? Are they wired, or wireless?

Need a camera on the nose (smile), or mid way back.

    Very good.

Was there a big balloon in the sky? I saw it a couple times.

    Take care,

It was 200 times more difficult to edit that video than it was to fly the aeroplane! And getting the video edited down to exactly 4:42 so it fit
    that track..... :-)

    It isn't wireless. It flies a 2GB SD-card and records in-flight. You
then USB the AVI/JPEG files upon post-flight recovery of the camera.
    They also make this:

But that's gonna be a bigger bullet than $75, I suspect...

Do you mean a black thing in the distance? No, I *think* it's the camera protecting itself from staring directly into the sun by zeroing out the pixels, hence making them black.

is there a reason why you guys had the camera pointing towards the rear
of the plane? is it to protect the camera in the event of a crash?

if not, maybe try pointing it straight ahead, i bet the view would be
    even better.

Camera position myst take various things into consideration. You don't
want it getting covered in oil from the exhaust and you don't want it upsetting the center of gravity (which will cause a crash). And
obviously, you want it to be *reasonably* protected in the event of a
    rough landing.

For the first flight, I chose to position it where it was EASY to attach, would avoid getting oily, and cause no CoG problems. In that position, it could look backwards, sideways, or forward, but when looking forward all
you saw was the back of the pilot's head.

if not, maybe try pointing it straight ahead, i bet the view would be
    even better.

I will do this, but I have to organize a mount that is clear of the
exhaust, on (or close to) the CoG point, is reasonably protected, and has
an unobstructed view. This requires modification of the model, which
    takes time.
