i don't remember the maintainer of slyedit's name but can we not use CTRL-A codes in the slyedit fileid.diz file, please? there really should not be any color codes in the diz files anyway... but they are unreadable and look like flecks of trash when viewed on systems that don't understand CTRL-A codes... and then some systems use CTRL-A codes for other stuff... i know of at least one system where CTRL-A is used to wait until a key is pressed...

    thanks!

I suppose I can remove those codes for the next release.
SlyEdit is a Synchronet-only mod though.. I didn't think it was likely that BBSes using other software would carry it in their filebase.

Except when SlyEdit gets hatched out over Agoranet. I'm guessing only half (or less) of the systems connected run Synchronet. I suppose I could have thought of that previously, but I guess I wouldn't have cared much to say anything even
if I would have. I've seen a ton of mangled FILE_ID.DIZ's in the past.

I suppose it could be kind of annoying, seeing as though damn near each and ever BBS software made up their own ways of displaying colors. If there was one
general defined way of doing it, it would probably be a different story.

I'm guessing it will look just as good with no color, as it does with. :)

    Nick

Yeah, that's true.. I could remove the color codes from the .diz file in the next release - but I'm not sure when that will be. So I may just re-package the current version with an updated file_id.diz.

No need to do anything special for the current version. It's already out there in the wild. I don't see a reason to put it out there again, if only to change up the diz.

I think the original request was for future releases anyways. So if you're going to take the color codes out, I'm sure it would be fine for the next release, if there is a need for one.

not even those that carry software for other packages? the way i noticed it was

    ;)

    thanks for your response! :)

Thta's a good point.. :) I also carry mods & software for other BBS packages on my BBS, so it's reasonable to expect Synchronet mods to be carried on BBSes using other packages. :)
