• Netmail Outbound

From Timesoarer@VERT to All on Sun Dec 22 19:19:06 2013
Ignore the message I left with the results from pktdump.exe the problem is with direct Netmail. The packet filename seems odd 000a0001.cut it seems that every netmail has that same filename. From reading the DOC's I'm thinking the file name should have something to do with the time it was created? Outbound netmail should not be zipped. The pktdump program only likes to read files with the extension *.pkt I think sbbsecho converts .cut to pkt for message import? I tried changing cut extension to pkt extension I'm still getting packet type error? What can I check for in scfg, echocfg and taurus? Outbound league 10 fido message networks working fine. We lost our hub boss for fidonet here. Without netmail there is no areafix. Was also wondering if there was different versions of sbbsecho? I checked the flags seemed to be default for fidoin? We are using a Flo type mailer. What can I do to try and process *.cut files into pkt that i can test with pktdump? Thanks--

maybe you should delete your settings and start from scratch.
you shouldnt be having this much of a problem with it.

    I know right!

My inbound Netmail is working fine. Outbound is a mess. Won't unpack on the otherside.. ? do you use Linux Version Sync or Windows?
Add me to yahoo if you think you can help fix this.

when i was on fidonet, i used the windows version and argus as a mailer.
when i was on zeronet and other msg networks, i used irex.

    check out http://eob-bbs.com/net229.darktech.org/fidosetup/

SBBSecho creates the .cut file for netmail, which your mailer should automatically rename to .pkt upon sending to your uplink. This is pretty normal operation. The fact that you're getting a packet type error is most likely the problem here. Did you change anything in your Fidonet networking settings in SCFG? Also, check to make sure your settings in ECHOCFG are correct as well. Most of the time the default settings will work and are usually better than anything people change those settings to when they have
    no idea what they're changing.

Something is seriously wrong on your end, to be getting packet type errors when sending from one Synchronet system to another Synchronet system. I mean REALLY wrong. :)

    Regards,
    Nick

See http://wiki.synchro.net/ref:fidonet_files for an explanation of what files (names and extensions) are what.
