in what OS? for OS/2 and winwhatever, virtual modems work... in *nix, dosbox or
similar provides the link between the virtual com port and telnet... i think it
    is dosbox but...

Synchronet's NT Virtual FOSSIL/UART driver (sbbsexec.dll) can emulate a physical COM port (UART), for those pesky programs that don't support FOSSIL.

Is it a DOS door? If so, you can copy sbbsexec.ini into the door's startup directory, then edit that sbbsexec.ini to specify which COM port the door needs. That has worked for me with similar DOS doors. Synchronet will emulate a COM port at the specified port number.

*I* cannot because i don't use it on any of my systems with any of the bbs software packages i have in operation... plus, as i noted above, "i /think/ it is dosbox but..." i might have been thinking of dosemu... others have provided the info in the past and will likely pop in with the assistance again...

you still didn't say what OS you are running on...
