The share support I've seen is within the same process only. Not saying they haven't extended it, but I haven't seen that.

Windows builds of DOSBox appear to support share modes now... by using the share mode support in Windows. Linux builds of DOSBox do not.

DOSEmu appears to have almost complete share support for redirected Linux volumes (not disk images). The differences are subtle, but could still cause problems with many multinode doors due to fcntl() flock insanity. If you want to audit a door for compatability, the big thing to watch out for is for a locked file to be open more than once at the same time. If this ever occurs, the door cannot safely be ran multinode with dosemu. If it doesn't occur, you should be safe... the other problems are likely to prevent the door from working at all.

Easiest way to check would be to trace syscalls... strace(1) would be the tool to test doors with.

Back in the day, there was a DOS-Like, multitasking OS that could run DO apps. It was called TSX. You had to load up DOS, then run TSX on top of IIRC. Maybe that would work in that instance. I have it available fo download on my BBS. You you can get it from the source: http://sandh.co

I haven't tried it yet. But maybe running dosbox, then running tsx migh
    also work

I'm very tempted to write a (completely insane) BBS for Temple OS.

A "cmpletely insane" BBS seems perfectly appropriate. I'd never heard of this OS, but after checking that web-site and watching some of the author's videos (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdX4uJUwSFwiY3XBvu-F_-Q/videos), it seems clear that TempleOS is what happens when a crazy programmer has too much time on his hands. :-) No offense intended.

I remember trying that back in the day. It didn't work well.

It has better "services" than the other OS I was tempted to use, RSTS/E (Go DECbasic)... in that it has a TCP stack. Or, I think it does.

He's totally mad. I have a copy of The Exegesis of Philip K. Dick... I've not managed to get though it yet... it gives me headaches and makes me have hallucinations.
