I'm not sure if this is in the works, or requested before, but i think
it would be nice to have an option to recieve email notifications about
message replies to your name directly.

i think receiving constant notifications about threads would be TOO MUCH traffic; but if a user was notified if there was a reply directly to them in msg bases it would be helpful.

Perhaps. Seems like the job for a timed event (which would scan the subs and queue the mail) rather than an internal feature. There are many ways to get messages into the system and having each of those ways check the "to" user against the userbase and enqueue and email would be a bad design. I know you hate JS, but this would be pretty trivial to do in JavaScript.

Seconded - I've found a couple of good blocklist generators, and CIDR seems the best option for pre-generating the file.

    Thanks!

yeah, the blocklists are good and what you can do individually with that format is quite useful.

plut it on the wiki and the website? thanks

also i think the password emailer should not ask for the user's email address because that fucks me up because i use email aliases and i cant remember them.
    :D

    thanks!

Then how would you know where to check/read that email with the password? The idea of user authentication is to get as much info from the user as possible without (or before) giving the user any personally-identifying info (like an email address).

i would just check all my emails.
i create aliases so i have no idea what alias i used is a long time ago.
also a lot of times these systems don't send welcome emails or even
    have email addresses that work.

can't it just shoot off an email if the users requests a password?
that's what my pw emailer does. it's not hurting anything. it's not resetting a pw. it doesnt have to SHOW the email address to the requester. it can just send it and disconnect.

It could. It's a script, so I suppose the sysop easily has that option. I could make it a modopts setting, but it would default to off (requiring the user enter their email address, confirming their identity) - so probably not helping you with whatever password it is you're trying to recover.

i dunno. i think you should just make it so it shoots the person the
password when they say they forgot the pw. you dont have to show the email address and there's no harm done. even show in the email the ip
address and say that 'if this wasn't you, you should know'.
maybe have an option to email the sysop if there's another issue.

i just think it would be more effective overall.
