I have been running a preview version for months now. Granted its a 64 bit version, but it still has the CMD window.

There's a command prompt, but it can't run 16-bit "old" DOS apps. 32
bit OSes can run DOS apps in a virtual DOS environment called a VDM.

I have my Mystic bbs running on Windows 10. Doors all work, well those that I have tried. There were a few things I had to do to make win10 run the 16bit doors, but once I found the answers, run like a charm.

I'm guessing you're probably using the 32-bit edition of Windows 10. 64-bit editions of Windows don't have the DOS VDM and thus can't run DOS programs easily.

What problems? I am also now running Synchronet on windows 10 32 bit.
So far so good. No major problems
I imagine you could probably use the 32-bit edition of Windows 10 to run DOS apps. Ruben Figueroa posted a message here saying he's running his BBS in Windows 10.
It appears that Windows 10 is no different from the other versions of Windows NT in this regard. Just use a 32-bit edition and you should be fine.

If you have a win32 windows 7, which you have to have if it's running 16 bit doors, then you will receive a 32 bit Windows 10 upgrade.

Actually I didn't know that NTVDM was not installed by the upgrade to Windows 10.

Then I found out to disabl NTVDM, then open a command prompt window, go to properties and check Legacy. Then go back to windows features and enable NTVDM. Then all the doors worked except one that was misconfigured.
