Just installed OS X El Capitan on my mac book pro, and now SyncTerms colors all wrong, really wrong. I reinstalled syncterm with the latest version, and that didn't help. The program still functions fine, but the colors are all wrong, it's almost like a negitive. reds for blues, yellows for cyans, and s foruth. Any one else experenced this, and if so, how do I fix it. Thanks in advance.I'm running 10.11.1 El Capitan and it seems fine to me. This is an old iMac, though (c. 2008)

Is it possible you somehow turned on "Invert colors" in OS X's accessibility preference pane?

Try taking it out of Overlay mode (ie: "normal" SDL).
That's what I did, and it ok, but I really miss the SDL Overlay, as it was the perfect size for my mac. All other screen types work fine, it's just SDL Overlay that messes with the color. I wish there was a simple fix.
It could be a driver issue, or some problem with video playback in general on that system (Overlay mode turns the output into a video).
SyncTERM actually supports a number of overlay formats, and it's likely that a different one would work if it was used, but there's no way to control it that finely-grained... SyncTERM simply chooses the first one
the driver says will work.
SDL_VIDEO_YUV_DIRECT=1
SDL_VIDEO_YUV_HWACCEL=0
I have made a big mistake and do not know how to correct it...
Something was going on with syncterm and I was trying to fix it by looking into it through the setup... played with the fonts and now it doesn't work.
When I click on the shortcut to access the program I get a terminal windows with jubberish....
Tried to delete the program and re-install... same thing... piss me off..
other than format my HDD is there any suggestions??

delete your syncterm settings.
Windows? Linux?windows
Delete the syncterm dir under your user directory in either OS, it will more than likely be hidden under windows, I cannot remember how they name the user dirs but that should fix it for you.

I deleted the directory and re-installed...
other than format my HDD is there any suggestions??the syncterm config or phone book file... a quick look on my kubuntu system shows font entries for each BBS listed in the phone book file... so find your syncterm.lst and make sure all the font lines look like
Font =Codepage 437 English
if that's not the problem, i'm sure someone will be along with the proper fix... but certainly there's no reason to format and reinstall everything just because of one problem in one program...

you didn't delete the settings! they're not stored with the program file(s)... they're per user so each use has their own in their %APPDATA% directory on winwhatever... in *nix, they're in the ~/.syncterm directory...

i know this home dir stuff is preferable but i wish the config file
was just in the directory with the executable.

i'm glad it isn't... i don't want the same phonebook or terminal settings that any of the other several users of this system have in place ;)

I think ALT-L is only to send the sysop password when its requested.
Make sure you have your username and password correct in the directory.
WOW, My hat is off to the SyncTerm Team. The new version is 1.2b is AWESOME. You even managed to include Rip Graphics Capabilities. This truly does make SyncTerm one of the best. Thanks so much for your hard work.

I haven't checked for new SyncTerm updates recently.. I'll have to check that out. I'd thought about adding RIP screens to my BBS.

Oh shit, Telegrafix about to sue somebody!
Oh wait...
Oh shit, Telegrafix about to sue somebody!
Oh wait...
TeleGraphix went out of business long ago...just like Quarterdeck Software, who did DESQView and QEMM.
When I ran GT Power on dial-up, I made several RIP graphics menu screens.
A former local Sysop thought RIP was what you did to a fart. <G>
Heh, yeah, that was the "Oh wait..." joke.
Yeah, I had some when I ran PCBoard
A former local Sysop thought RIP was what you did to a fart. <G>
Well, I mean... he's not wrong...
I used the background template that had the software name (GT Power),
then used Deadpaint (affectionately known as DEAD) to create the menus.
I chuckled that in the documentation where the authors noted "Dead is a trademark of the undertaker, and Doctor Jack Kev... never mind". <G>
Unfortunately, I don't think you can register it anymore. I have it
over on the BBS computer, but rarely do RIP screens anymore.
Where can one grab the latest SyncTerm?
Oh man, I remember Deadpaint. I think I have a copy of it around here somewhere too....
There's very few things you can register any more from back then.
... Chuck Norris can kick a fart back into an ass.

I doubt it'd work under Windows 10, and especially at the screen resolutions I have it at. Plus, I didn't do much with the program,
except for creating menus.

I saw rumblings of a 1.2 somewhere. Wanted to give it a run to see if it fixed a login issue I'm experiencing. Nothing at all critical. Otherwise 1.1 is working fine.

Hey all, glad to find this Synchronet area for the BBS software, mind a question on SyncTerm?
Recently got a newer version of SyncTerm working and had some questions on the login and password macros. :)

Just go ahead and ask your question. :)
Thanks, one of the things enjoyed in more recent versions of Syncterm is the ability to hit alt+L for logging in to a BBS and having the user and password settings all set up.
As it is you can supposedly hit alt+L and if the password does not take, a person can hit Alt-L again. The Alt-L option works great on the sychronet BBSs and a few others, but not all.
Is there a chance that a different key could be assigned to the password field. That way when alt-L enters the user field but fails to send the password, the password can be sent by another Alt+(letter) command?

I didn't know about this Alt-L feature, but if you configure an entry in your BBS list with RLogin or SSH, you can put your login credentials in there. I'm not sure why there would need to be a separate hotkey (Alt-L) for that. Unless I'm misudnerstanding something.
