I have several things in subjects.can and it's ignorning them.

If you actually named the file 'subjects.can', that could be a problem. It's meant to be 'subject.can'.

Here are some of my strings and if I remember correctly the tilde will zap

No need to work from memory. Please refer to this:

According to the wiki, it's case-insensitive. Your strings will probably work if you move the tilde to the end.

    Executive Chicken is right:
    - The speical tilde (~) must be at the *end* of the search string
    - The search strings are case-insensitive

That is the correct file name.

work if you move the tilde to the end.

That was what was not clear in that doc... where to place the tilde. Examples help, especially with those of us who have had a traumatic brain injury :-)

Thank you Rob... your kindness, professionalism and just downright being a good guy all round will probably lead me to delete wildcat in the next few weeks. I will wait and see what viatoss will do. I owe Joe Martin that much. But so far Synchronet has cleaned up my message bases more than anything. I'm really digging it.

I was legally blind 6 months ago... with my sight restored I can see so much better now. Have to say you guys are more on top of things than santronics will ever be.

I'd suggest starting by searching the wiki, then resort to the older documentation if you can't find what you're looking for. If there's a wiki page, it'll be newer and quite possibly better. In this case the wiki page has more details (placement of the tilde, case insensitivity) than the old docs, and has examples.

(And if you find something useful in the old docs that's not on the wiki, consider porting it over. Anyone with an account on Vert can edit pages there.)

    Thanks Chicken,

I have made some clarifications in the Wiki that Duece has appreciated when I was helping him with Binkit with my last foray into synchronet. We got a lot of things debuged with Binkit that night and had it better talkign to Mystic and Bink-D. Deuce is absolutely awesome.

I'm hoping he would put a more detailed config file up for tickit as I am totally lost on that one. If Tickit is working I would abandon bink-d right away. As it is now I don't know where there is an easy to set up .tic processor for synch. Getting hella frustrated.
