SlyEdit already does that (and it happens automatically). Are you
perhaps using an old version of SlyEdit? You can download the latest
one from the Synchronet CVS or from here:

Perhaps it does but it wraps act column 78. Because a lot of software does not have the re-wrap feature is it possible it can wrap at 75 or less or have a way to configure where it wraps at? Would be especially useful on usenet where everyone quotes everything anyhow and never bothers to trim.

SlyEdit automatically detects where to re-wrap the quote lines, rather than using a set value. It's based on how much text is before the quoted line (i.e., " > " or user's initials before the >). You shouldn't have to specify a specific wrapping length.

After thinking about it, I'm wondering if I may have misunderstood what you meant. Were you thinking of an option for the maximum length to wrap at?

Another question for Slyedit (which I love)...

Is it possible to change the subject within slyedit like you can in Duce's editor?

Unfortunately, no. It's due to the drop files used by SlyEdit. If I remember right, I chose to use the drop files SlyEdit uses because they provide some information about the sub-board being posted in (such as its name). Deuce's editor uses a drop file that includes the subject, allowing you to change the subject, but the drop files used by SlyEdit do not.

For the line wrapping, are you concerned mainly about quote lines? I'd think if the wrapping length is an issue, the whole message should be wrapped to the same length. But perhaps Synchronet can detect quote lines vs. non-quote lines..
