• NNTP Newslink Setup

From Joe@VERT/FIREONTH to All on Fri Mar 24 13:04:03 2017
    Hi folks!

I am trying to configure Newslink. I have success logging into the news server, it accepts username and password, recognizes it wants to look at alt.bbs.allsysop, it tells me there are 2606 messages there, but it never downloads them. I wrote a message in the area and it did send it to the server.

Any ideas on what I may be missing?

    Thanks!

IIRC it doesn't import old messages the first time it's run, but will import new messages as they are posted.

You can run it from a shell or command prompt in your 'exec' directory like so, as a one-time thing to import the backlog of messages:

    jsexec newslink.js -ri

Or possibly grab the last x messages like so:

    jsexec newslink.js -ix 250

    More info here:

And indeed you may want to look at available command line options including -ri and -ix before you run the command.

Examine the log output closely and it should indicate what's going on. You can also enable debug-level (more verbose) log output by adding "debug" to your ctrl/newslink.cfg file or '-d' to the newslink command-line.

Thanks for all of the great info. I will try running jsexec.
