  • SMTP turn off blacklist search

    I am still trying to get my inbound SMTP working. I have a mail reflector.
    However, Synchronet spends ~20 seconds going through its DNSBL (blacklist) search. This causes the reflector service to decide there is no response, even though my server does eventually respond.

    Is there a way to turn that lookup off, or to at least stop it from
    checking the "slow" site?:

    I tried multiple times, and there is always at least a 20 second delay between list.dsbl.org and blacklist.spambag.org.

    I also question the usefulness of this check because it not only flags my reflector as being on a bad list, if I telnet to port 587 at my address it flags my own IP as a being on a list, too, and since I am not set up to
    deny or throttle blacklisted sites, it does not really do me much good to have it search for them.

    spambag.org went down long ago, you should remove it from your ctrl/dns_blacklist.cfg file.

    I hope that helps. And yes, you can disable the DNS-blacklist look-ups altogether if you wish.
