  • Bulk file import

    Guys, what's the best way of importing a LOT of files into Synchro - I read about the ADDFILES utility but is it possible to automatically create file groups/areas as well?

    I'm talking about thousands of directories of files here.

    SCFG does have the ability to import directory listings directly (that's directories, not files), but it imports a single level only (not a "tree" of directories with subdirectories, recursively).

    After importing the directory listings in SCFG, you could then use addfiles to add the files to the database(s) automatically.

    Correction: SCFG can create a list of directories that include all nested sub-directories (recursively), but the resulting list can only be imported as a single-level list of directories (under one file library). The BBS user can only ever be presented with a bi-level hierarchy (files within directories within libraries), but the paths on disk can be as deeply nested and spread out as you wish.
