Any recommendations/advise?

node 2? do you mean Zone 2? if so, it is alive and well with some 1100+ entries
in nodelist.117 for 2018...

yeah! Sorry, Zone 2 I meant!
Any way of reaching those guys or getting any information about it?
I have been browsing around the internet but I mostly find broken
links.

i have no clue, really... joining fidonet in Z2 is just as easy as it
is joining in Z1... you get the nodelist and find the *C that coveres
your area, send them a netmail (not email... this is fidonet afterall)
and do what they tell you needs to be done to be assigned a node
number... where are you? i'm sure that some one of us in fidonet can easily point you to the proper person to handle your application...
Question, am I missing something?
When I joined Dovenet I say fidonet and fsxnet in the areas to pick.
I guess what I'm asking can I just those also through QWK and if so
can I use a address point .1 to join?
Assuming you're talking about Vetrauen, the answer is No, I'm not gating FidoNet or FsxNet to QWK.
Thanks, that cares care of one thing today, still trying to get doors working
and door party also. Both throw a error.
What error?
!ERROR checking /sbbs/ctrl/..xtrn/doors/dmud/
Where do I look for better logs on dosemu error's?

no... you wouldn't be a point in a FTN at all if you get it over QWK... at best you'd be a user of the QWK hub you're getting it from that is gating the area between the QWK and FTN networks...

I cannot process that sentence either, for the same reason.

The sysop has been notified.

Normally in your node directory dosemu_boot.log.
!ERROR checking /sbbs/ctrl/..xtrn/doors/dmud/
i know it has already been pointed out that you're missing a '/' before xtrn..
!ERROR checking /sbbs/ctrl/..xtrn/doors/dmud/
It also looks like he has his /xtrn dir pointed here like it is under /sbbs/ctrl. Mine is under /sbbs proper, i.e. /sbbs/xtrn.

Small statement here...
After being TOLD to read the docs
And the docs state: ../xtrn not /sbbs/xtrn/
Just reading from the docs

If you're going to be bitchy about it, at least try to be correct at the same time. Sorry for being a dick about it, but I'm grumpy today.

One I wasn't being a dick about it and that statement was pointed to you.
Two I have thick skin spending years in the service and protecting you!
More likely he just set the path to '..xtrn/doors/dmud/' in scfg. Unless you p
ovide an absolute path (eg. starting with '/'), these paths are relative to you
ctrl directory. The resulting full path is showing up in the log.
I didn't say you were being a dick, but you certainly were complaining about being "TOLD" to read the docs, which you felt were incorrect.
See I have been running a BBS going back to 89 in those old school days people
a (sysop) would go out of is way to help other sysop's. The DOCS were not as
good or their were none. I'm old school and use to getting help from other sysop's. The only guy I know of that was still like that passed away not to long ago. (Tim Cornett)
that guy would spend days helping others.
If you find something unclear or missing from the documentation, or if the instructions didn't seem to work for you, by all means ask for more information, clarification, or help. This is where the docs can be built out more, or some troubleshooting of your setup can happen.

Ahhh.... so the ../xtrn works because it says "one dir up from ctrl,
then back down xtrn". I did not know that. Glad I know it now! :)
I'm agree with you Havok. I never could have kept my BBS going without the help of fellow SysOps. One ten minute phone call was worth 2000 words of Docs. The BBS software I used on had Manuals with index's that sucked. ;-)
Correct ".." means the parent directory to the current directory. So if you're sitting in /sbbs/ctrl and do "cd ../xtrn" then you're now in /sbbs/xtrn. :)
And that works regardless of where SBBS is installed, because the directory structure is the same below the main SBBS directory.

That was the point I was trying to make, I miss those days!
