    Nice!

It works here just fine, haven't had any trouble with it. Just took a
while to create a unique INTERNAL CODE for each group, but I got the hang
    of it.

Yeah, I got the impression it "just works". It's a pity that the smaller "local" news servers of the past are long gone. Some of those limited circulation newsgroups would have been a good match for the BBS, and in the 90s, I would have had access to a good set.

True I make a list now with groupname and which internal code. LOL...

Which groups do you prefer? Like some here wrote, it isnt activate anymore.

Thinking about also adding fidonet, that is still being active?

Just want to read and sometimes respond, that is all...

Same here, I have a cheat sheet, lol.

I have mostly Linux related groups, and some political. Most of my users
are connecting from the i2p network, and are interested in Linux technical stuff.

It would be nice to find, or be able to contribute to, a list of active
groups that aren't full of spam. It's hard to find good groups out of the
    huge mess of groups available.

I was connected to Fidonet in the past, but finally gave up on it. Not for
any technical reason, it worked fine, but it's just not for me. I'm sure
many are pleased to read/contribute to it, but I found it almost
depressing. Dove-Net is much nicer :)

True I dont want negative forums etc... just ppl ask questions and other nice ppl give tips for helping each other... if someone has a typo not 100s of ppl freak out.

There's still a few useful echos on Fidonet.

A couple of us have been testing exactly this on some networks (i2p &
tor). We now have running a small set of newsgroups on 4 different inn
    servers, plus 2 Synchronet installs.

It's working great. Not that we have a lot of users, but it's the fun of setting it up and enjoying the communication between systems and the
lack of data loss. It's also given us the opportunity to develop two
different web interfaces to NNTP, which is not so common anymore.

We mainly focus on our main groups, but also carry some Usenet groups,
and FMS (Freenet) groups. The idea is a user in i2p, tor, freenet and
clearnet can all communicate with eachother. So far it's working well.

If you're interested, feel free to check it out.
    telnet rocksolidbbs.com 25

This one is a Synchronet install.

The newsgroups we're sharing are rocksolid.shared.*

That sort of intercommunication is right up my alley. Anything that bridges people together is a good thing. :)

Odd chice of ports, given those are SMTP and POP3 standard ports, and 25 is often blocked by ISPs.

The newsgroups we're sharing are rocksolid.shared.*

    I'll have a look. :)

Lots to look through, looks like a good setup. BTW, you gave me (as I suspected) your mail ports, telnet was 23, and I suspect NNTP is 119. :)
