So last week everything was working fine... I could upload and download from file areas on my BBS without a problem. I do not have anything customized for doing uploads or downloads.

This week while attempting to upload a file I noticed it has stopped working. Tried downloading and I get the same thing.

After choosing the protocol to use, I get the standard "Start transfer now (Ctrl-X to abort):" message followed by "test123 .zip NOT RECIEVED!" and drops me back to the menu. I do not see any protocol communication stuff on the screen.

Watching tail -f /var/log/messages I see the following:

Dec 11 12:17:32 digitalrealms synchronet: term Node 2 <High Spirit> Node 2 executing external: /sbbs/exec/sexyz 49 -Telnet rz /sbbs/files/sysop/uploads/test123.pdf
Dec 11 12:17:32 digitalrealms synchronet: term Node 2 <High Spirit> attempted to upload test123 .pdf to SysOp Area Uploads (Not received)

Reading the Synchronet Error Log, I see the following:

Synchronet 'sbbs' executable is running under the root user and the sexyz executable is in the folder '/sbbs/exec/'.

Out of curiosity, I started a sudo terminal and executed sexyz and did get a list of options so the executable is working. I also started a shell from within Synchronet and ran the exact shell command from /var/log/messages (above) and it worked. ZModem came up on the client side and I transfered a file, although something weird happend afterwards and I got booted from the BBS. But it worked reguardless.

I have verified my protocol settings are correct compared to what is in the docs and even have another Synchronet installation that I verified them with.

So is there anywhere else I can look for clues to what the cause is?

Okay, this was weird. I recompiled Synchronet and it is working again. WTF...

It is one of those days.... sigh.
