  • Maximum Messages

    Are there any performance considerations when upping the "Maximum Messages" setting for synchronet? I had it set to 500 but decided to up it to 5000. Is it more of a disk space consideration as opposed to processor?

    IE, if I up it to 5000, will it slow my system down? I am currently running on a Raspberry Pi 3 with plenty of disk space.

    It'll take a little bit longer to load message bases which contain more messages, but not terribly. 5000 (and even more) messages per area should be fine.

    I think it's more of a disk space consideration. I imagine it should only affect speed when you're doing things like searching for messages or listing messages in your message areas, etc., which is only for those operations and wouldn't affect the overall speed of the system.
