• Question about Ecweb4

    From Heliarc@VERT/HAVENS to All on Fri Mar 29 09:06:19 2019
    Is this the place to ask questions about ecwebv4 ? I haven't made any changes other then installing it. The File section does not work. The link for files points to ftp://mybbs.net/00index.html?$tu247blahblahblah. This is a dead link. How to I get the File Libraries link in the sidebar to point to the files on my ftp server? These are the same files on the BBS. Can anyone help?

    Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

    Sounds like you're not actually using ecweb v4. It doesn't generate links like that. The Files page is HTTP based and doesn't use your FTP server.

    Yes I checked out the web side of your board today. I noticed the difference right away. It looks great. How does ecwebv4 look on a smart phone? I haven't checked that out yet but I will tonite. Hopefully this improvement will increase BBS activity. Hey .... ya never know.

    I like the ability to check in if I want to. I think some smartphones are getting a bit huge for a phone though.. Years ago, I remember when it was considered good to have a phone that was small, not too bulky, but now the trend seems to be going in reverse, that people like having a bigger phone for the bigger screen..

    No, I used windows wordpad.
    everything I did was hand coded and saved as a plain text file with an .xjs or .txt extension.
    using html codeing.
    below is an example of my links folder

    "<!--Links-->"

    <h4><a href="http://www.synchro.net/sbbslist.html">Syncronet BBS List</a>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;
    <a href="http://www.synchro.net/">Synchronet BBS Website</a>

    <a href="https://bbslink.net//">BBSLink Website</a> &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; <a href="https://github.com/echicken//">echicken's Github</a>

    <a href="https://github.com/denngray//">denn gray's Github</a>

    <a href="http://67.172.243.146:8080/jpg/BBSLink%20Scores.zip">Download BBSLink Score Drop down menu for ecwebv4</a>
    </h4>

    you could cut and paste this into wordpad and save it as a plain text file with an .xjs extension, save it as links.xjs create a folder called links in your sbbs\webv4\pages\ and save links.xjs in the sbbs\webv4\pages\links folder
    and you will now have a links page where you can add the links you want.
    also here is a link to my BBSLink score files in a zip. http://67.172.243.146:8080/jpg/BBSLink%20Scores.zip
    just add a folder to your webv4\pages called BBSLink Scores and drop all the .xjs files in webv4\pages\BBSLink Scores\ and you will have the BBSLink drop down score files for BBSLink.

    Here is the html I used to make my background theme.
    in your index.xjs located at sbbs\webv4\root
    above <?xjs add the following line as the 1st line in your index.xjs

    <body background="url">

    the url is a hotlinked background from anywhere on the internet that allows hotlinking.

    example:<body background="https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/UoxHRumGYoZ9QrerGB4ZxY-970-80.jpg "
    the background picture can be from anywhere on the Internet that allows hotlinking or from your system.
    it will add the background to all pages on your ecwebv4.

    Is that enabled by default in Synchronet? if so, what would be the command/key?

    I primarily use Syncterm, what's the 'capture' command for that? It's weird, sometimes I can't press the 'Alt-Z' option to bring up the help. Not sure if maybe I compiled it wrong, or it might be a keymap issue with me and Ubuntu. Sometimes my "Alt" works to disconnect or bring up other options, but that's only after randomly pressing an Alt-<Command> a few times, but it doesn't always work. I even tried to change my keyboard settings..
