What is text.txt? I don't know of any such file in Synchronet. text.dat is the correct one. It looks like the text.dat in CVS has 1003 lines in it now. I know many of those were just added recently, in the last couple years or so. Later than 2016, I think.

The last entry in mine is:

That doesn't look like something that would be in text.dat..

Changes to text.dat will happen on an ongoing basis probably for as long as Synchronet continues to be developed. When certain new features are added to the terminal server, new prompts and other strings are introduced and added to this file.

It's been updated roughly 110 times in the past 18 years, and rarely goes more than a year without seeing some kind of update.

The default strings are hard-coded into Synchronet, so you don't need to update your local copy of text.dat whenever it gets changed in CVS. You can tack a line onto your local file when you want to override a new default string.

it's better to run a dos bbs sofware and use synchronet or gameserv to launch it.

I'm not sure what you mean..? You're replying to a commit message about my message reader (DDMsgReader). My message reader doesn't have an X command and has nothing to do with the doors menu.

By default, xtrn_sec.js uses a dynamically generated selection list that uses the SelectItemFmt string from ctrl/text.dat.

This string (and others) can be overriden in the [xtrn_sec] section of your ctrl/modopts.ini file:

if it's a string you are probably editing text.dat
if it's from a script you are editing the script.
