  • Doors, DOSBox, and NTVDMx64?

    Has any [Windows] type people looked at this hacked version of NTVDM for Win x64?

    Basically it's supposed to let 64-bit Windows run 16-Bit DOS programs "natively", it will even pipe LPT1: output.

    I haven't figured it out yet. Windows Defender thinks it's a virus probably because it is, or because it's a modified version of a MS dll, but it could mean that BBSs could run Win x64 and still run old DOS Doors without jumping through a ton of hoops.

    yes, folks are looking at and using it... in fact, netserial and/or netfoss have been reworked to work properly with it on 64 bit systems...

    tell your virus scanner thing to leave it alone ;)

    I haven't figured it out yet. Windows Defender thinks it's a virus probabl use it is, or because it's a modified version of a MS dll, but it could me t BBSs could run Win x64 and still run old DOS Doors without jumping throu on of hoops.

    Yeah, as far as running dos doors goes, this is my least favorite solution
    even though it would probably wind up being the fastest. :/

    I think if a person decides to go this route, fighting with antivirus
    software will constantly be the frustration, and it'll likely break a lot.
    It's a bummer.

    :) Indeed. For me, if I'm going to open a firewall to accept an incoming connection, it's going to have to be on a linux server.

    The anti-virus/windows defender is only an issue when installing. Once installed there is no problem.

    Cool beans, soon as my board is back up I might mess with it. Run Remote Access from Windows 10 natively... Cool beans.

    I disabled my virus scanner, fuck that guy.

    yes they are able to run 16bit DOS programs on a 64bit winwhatever installation...

    i wasn't joking above when i said that PCMike has worked with this ntvdm's developer(s) so that netfoss/netserial works properly with it, either ;)
