You were right but after installing two that I missed I still had the error
I used a backup dated 04.03.20 and then updated Revision C Apr 17 2020 17:21
and before and after gtkmonitor worked like before.
gtkmonitor works fine.
I would like to find out why it now opens a new window instead of the way it worked before 04.03.20 when it opened in a TAB window.

I have noticed odd behavior like that, moreso with my ubuntu boxes than the ones that run straight debian, after applying updates. I usually have to go back in and change a setting. It seems to happen a lot with the
