    Just out of curiosity, is there a reason the PETSCII support is split up in two ports vs using one port and asking whether to display 40 or 80 columns?

    maybe column detection is not possible for some terminals?

    So that you don't have to prompt for 40 or 80 columns. You can if you like, but that's not my preference.
