Sweet. I installed this over the weekend and was appalled at the CPU usage; figured it had something to do with the character input. It was unusable on my VM... :P

Thanks for the update on it. I'll give it a whirl tonight or tomorrow morning. :)

Heh, yeah, it was a silly mistake - sorry about that. I should've fixed it sooner, but I didn't realize that anyone was using this thing.

I'm looking to eventually cobble together various programs that basically keep most of the BBS scrolled within one screen. I've been becoming annoyed with constant scrolling... It's so much nicer having a message reader, for instance, that keeps the header information at the top.

As long as you can live without using your terminal's scrollback buffer, then yeah, scrolling certain information within the screen while keeping other stuff persistent can be nice. The two things I wanted to do with ecReader were to offer threaded message views, and to keep certain information visible in the terminal at all times.

What other sorts of programs are you looking for? I've got a bulletin lister that you might like, and might have some other stuff.

I'm not sure, just working on it here and there. I'm not even sure I'm going to keep the file menu on the terminal side.

RemoteAccess has a "Full Screen Reader" option that does this... it is very nice and something that max and i were recently talking about trying to see if could be done with synchronet... we were first looking to see it in the bbs itself... then maybe later on a web interface... we've already fixed up the base web interface to place the "previous/next" buttons at the top of the message frame in addition to at the bottom... it was a real PITA to /have/ to scroll to the bottom to go to the next message... now we can keep the mouse in one place and click ever onwards :)
