1... is there a compiled version of SBBSEcho 2.20/w32 floating around and if so, where on the CVS can I get it. My eyes are hurting from looking. (I know, it's probabaly in the most obvious location)
3... is the new version compatable with my existing echocfg version?
4... how often should I "update"... remember, I'm still a newbie when it comes to SBBS... so I maybe a little slow on the uptake.

SBBSEcho is part of the standard tools included with Synchronet, so it comes with the Synchronet installer for Windows.. So if it's missing
in your setup, then you may have a problem. It's also available in the daily development build of Synchronet, which can be downloaded with
this link: ftp://vert.synchro.net/Synchronet/sbbs_dev.zip

As far as I know, it should be compatible, but Digital Man is probably
the best person to answer this one.

I tend to be conservative about updating my Synchronet binaries. Since the daily development binaries are based off of code that is fairly
fresh (and hasn't been tested much), I don't think there is much reason
up upgrade unless there's a bug in your current build that you're
waiting on a fix for or if there's a new feature in a new build that
you want. Basically, if it's not broken, don't fix it. :)

I understand that and have it operating. I was just wondering if there was a compiled 2.20/w32 exe that was sitting around somewhere.
The version I'm using 2.12 seems to operating perfectly. My question was, if it was ok, then why is there a 2.20 version.. :)

As I've stated, it's in the daily builds. I recently updated to one of the daily builds a couple days ago, and my SBBSEcho says it's version 2.20/w32.

I think the only place you'll find the compiled version would be in the sbbs_dev package Nightfox mentioned.

Should be. Echocfg only modifies your sbbsecho.cfg file (basically
gives you a GUI for ease of not having to edit config files, etc.) I've had my sbbsecho.cfg for years now and sbbsecho 2.20 reads it just fine.
New features as well as things that worked, but maybe didn't work the
way they were expected to, or even some minor things that most wouldn't notice, but someone had a problem with it, have since been changed..
hence the 2.20 version. :)
2.12 did work for a long time over here, I ran into a couple minor
things (like hosting points and the filenames they created meshed with each other if you had more than one point. That's just one example).
2.20 has since been released and fixed whatever issues I may have had
in the past. New features and requests have also been implemented..
If 2.12 works just fine for you, by all means you aren't forced to upgrade. But if you want the latest and greatest, upgrade at your own risk. FYI and hopefully to ease the nerves, 2.20 works fine over here.
:)

I have the 2.30 version, don't have a 2.20 version

He's not talking about the Synchronet version. He's talking about sbbsecho. If you're running the latest development then you are using 2.20.
