Posting from SyncTERM on Windows XP right now... I still can't reproduce the crash. :-(

hmmm, I have it in the C:\Program Files\syncterm
I just zip what I had there and then deleted it and then unzip the 3 1 15 copy and then ran it, same error

I would let you vcn in, but that computer is set for outbound only, and I would have to make changes to the router part of the dsl modem. and remote access won't work - reason I don't have a password on the account that I use on it

Deuce, quick thought:

The SyncTerm menu in the Mac menubar lists Cmd-H as "Hide SyncTerm," which is a pretty standard command in all Mac applications.

However, then menubar is wrong. Cmd-H actually maps to "Hangup" or "Disconnect"

I almost never use "hangup," so I've never really noticed this before. But today I was going through and hiding a bunch of apps, and when I tried to hide SyncTerm I noticed the issue.

I'd recommend changing the hangup shortcut (since Cmd-H is ubiquitous on the Mac), but not sure if that's the solution you'd prefer.

The command is actually <Modifier>-H. In SyncTERM for some reason I never documented, both option and command are mapped to <Modifier>, and in the interface are listed as "Command".

As for changing <Modifier>-H to not hangup, this is a non-starter unless I make
all actions remappable (not a near term feature).

If you think only mapping Option as the modifier is reasonable for OS X users, and won't be surprising when it stops working, I can look into that. IIRC, the
OS X guidelines say Command should be used for keyboard shortcuts, and Option be used to modify the behaviour of something, so Command is the "better fit" to
what SyncTERM does.

I'll remove Hide from the menu bar for now. I never really did the menu bar, just took a default one.

That's probably enough for now.

Making commands re-mappable someday down the roady would be pretty sweet, but I imagine that's a lot of work for a small payoff.

to avoid cryplib, it add some ifdef on makefiles :

in your USERPROFILE and (in my case at least) root of C:
When the 'type' parameter to get_syncterm_filename() was is 2 (SYNCTERM_DEFAULT_TRANSFER_PATH), the fn (filename) argument would
remain uninitialized (random/garbage) at the point that it creates the directory stored in 'fn' if it doesn't exist. Often garbage would be an invalid filename (or just 0) which would cause Windows to fail the request to create the directory. But other times, the garbage would still be a valid directory name (usually just one or two characters).

The code after this assumes 'fn' is initialized and (like I just pointed out), in some cases, it's not. So there might be another fix here needed.

This was a couple weeks ago. Is it still down?

It's been less than a couple weeks since I downloaded the new daily build so, no it should'nt be. Just checked, Files is available for download, but does me no good until I hear that it has been repaired.

I read that page wrong, I thought that was the src code packet, but I believe it can be had from syncterm.bbsdev.net. and possible in the CVS tree at cvs.synchro.net. cant quite remember, been a bit since I built it myself for linux.

Fix (or work-around?) ScalingFactor issue reported by ogg in fsxNet->FSX BBS: The ScalingFactor would always (or usually) reset to 1 and have to be reset e.g. to 2, by resizing the window manually, every time SyncTERM was run.

I found that by calling textmode() *after* setscaling() rather than before fixed this issue (at least in SDL mode on Ubuntu Linux). Another "fix" that worked inserting a small (100ms) delay between the calls to textmode() and setscaling() - so there appears to have been a race condition and calling setccaling() too soon after text mode() would fail to change the window
size successfully. Reordering these calls seems to work 100% of the time without any additional delays. <shrug> Deuce would likely know "why" better than I.

Remove CIOLIB_MODE_SDL_YUV* macros, these modes have no point anymore
Fix SDL prototypes

Use _beginthread() instead of SDL_CreateThread(). For some reason, using CreateThread() sometimes caused an application crash (ie: when using -?) Everyhing else uses _beginthread() so there's no reason for this to be
special, especially when it breaks stuff.

Start UIFC in insert mode.

Per comment on reddit by dialsoft, the lack of an insert key on
laptops can make manipulating the phonebook more difficult. Since
all the other UIFC functions have an insert alternate, they don't
need any changes now that there's a manual, but for editing a
string, the insert key is the only way to toggle overstrike.

Since the insert mode toggle persists, simply starting in overstrike
mode should be fine.

Maybe some weird control key of function key can be used (though
I guess laptops don't have function keys either anymore).

Should make DigitalMan happy by making help output be in the console
on Windows with syncterm.com. Hopefully syncterm.exe doesn't get
the help output hosed by this.
