I am feverently trying to get binkit to work but am running into issues. I have binkit.ini in my ctrl dir with the nets I need to call out to, but
binkit always trys to call 29:100/100, 87:1/1 instead of my networks, and
    with server names like f1.n1.z87.example.com

what am I doing wrong or missing?

Sounds like you need the file ctrl/ftn_domains.ini. If you have this file with the proper contents (I'm not sure what the "proper contents" looks like), then it won't default to the "example.com" domain when trying to resolve FTN addresses to IP addresses. This is just based on a quick look at exec/load/fido.js, which I did not write nor use.

Hopefully Deuce will chime in with a more authorative answer or you can ping him on irc (#synchronet at irc.synchro.net).
