    That is something I'm also interested in (I like database connected web apps...), but it's not
    something I'll have a chance to really take a look at until I'm a lot more familiar with SBBS...

    yes, you must patch the source code of the sbbs release and have the sqlite3 headers (from sqlite3-dev package) for compile it. it's not very difficult.
