    Hello All,

I wrote a script that grabs the 3-day forecast for my location from wttr.in and posts it to my BBS. This is written in bash.

The display is converted to ASCII so all users can view it using iconv. The lines you're interested in are lines 4 and 5.

    cp weather1.asc $MBSE_ROOT/share/int/txtfiles/en/weather1.asc

A lot more complicated, but AI-WX from lonestarbbs.com has sixel and ansi
radar as well as 7 day forecasts, weather alerts, tons of sixel maps and much more! If you're looking for a full featured weather door, this is it.

I don't know what sixel is. Sounds like a new RIP...

I delibrately do not want ANSI because I have callers that are not ANSI-capable (they call via mainframe) and I want to make sure they can see it.

I have it over on my BBS...the $10 registration fee is well worth
    it, IMO.

With a potential winter storm coming up next week, and having
weather data on the BBS, I need to check that more often.

Sixel is supported by syncterm, Icyterm and Magiterm; maybe others. It
allows the displaying of graphics converted from graphic formats on a bbs screen, a bit simpler than RIP but more useful.

I use IEMbot. It can get any text product put out by any NWS office nationwide within one second of publication. I often use it during severe weather and SKYWARN activations.

IEMBot was developed by University of Iowa's agronomy department.

I also like using WXWarn during activations also.

Another program I love for weather is Supercell WX:

"Supercell Wx is a free, open source application to visualize live and archive NEXRAD Level 2 and Level 3 data, and severe weather alerts. It displays continuously updating weather data on top of a responsive map, providing the capability to monitor weather events using reflectivity, velocity, and other products."
