    So, I got my off-lease Dell a couple of weeks ago. It's a 9th generation
    i7 with 64 GB of RAM and support for NVMe down the road. (for the time
    being, I'm running on a SATA SSD...)

    I moved my existing SSD over to the new system, then realized it didn't
    have Bluetooth or Wifi. I have ethernet in my office, so wifi isn't a
    major concern, but Bluetooth was.

    I put the hard drive back in my old computer and the Windows Activation
    bit claimed my system had changed and needed to be re-activated. I
    couldn't re-activate it using my serial, so I put it back in the new
    system. Works there.

    The great thing about Dells is the ability to source parts. I found a 2
    1/2" drive sled, Intel wireless/bluetooth card and a SD card reader on
    Amazon, installed the hard drive properly, installed the card reader and wireless/bluetooth, and ran the antenna cables between the outside of
    the case and the plastic faceplate - I think that'll work better than surrounding the antennas with metal.

    Now, what to do with 64GB of RAM...

    Realistically, I should go back to my old desktop (i7, 4 cores, 4
    threads, 16 GB RAM) and use this one for Proxmox. It's got 4 cores/8
    threads and more RAM then I'll ever need for the near future.

    But, transcoding movies so my Roku can stream them went from 28 minutes
    to 4 (!) with the new box, and it's got both USB 3.0 on the front and
    USB-C, so it's pretty nice.



    ... What to increase? What to reduce? What to maintain?

    you could have got a bluetooth usb dongle and a usb card reader too, instead of cracking it open.

    Yeah, but systems nowadays are so easy to work on, and I didn't want a
    bunch of crap hanging off of it.
