I bought the Pi 4 (4GB) shortly after it was released, so some time mid to
    late 2019?

It's also running off of a "PiDrive" which is just a 250GB spinning drive with a USB 3 interface:

    https://bit.ly/3vkwbO5

Originally you still needed an SD card inserted which the Pi would boot to
and then "hand off" operation to the HD. Now the Pi can boot directly via
USB so there's no SD card inserted.

Looks good except the end of the origin line should say 618:250/89 instead
of 1:2320/401. For synchronet, in the SCFG program, you will want to check Networks -> Fidonet -> System Addresses and make sure that 618:250/89 is
added. Then you will want to set the Fidonet Address in the Network Options for each of your micronet echos to the 618:250/89 address.

That should take care of it.

I had like 10 computers in the apartment and gave away 3. I am working on setting up a small Dell Optiplex 7010 (i5, 8GB RAM) and giving my mom, this dell Optiplex 7040 I paid $600 for (i7, 32GB RAM). I need a better computer
to stream with so the 7040 is overkill for what I need. The 7010 is a USFF system and will give me a lot more space once it's gone near my desk.

When I can purchase a PFSense appliance I can get rid of this i5 I'm using
for a firewall as it's large and really overkill for what it does.

I might put the BBS on it eventually. It's a Broadcom onboard NIC that is
crap but I put an Intel PRO/1000 PCIe card in it and that would be just
fine. I like to keep the OS and BBS separated physically on different
    drives.

You could pick up a cheap used appliance firewall, load OpenWRT onto it
and get a lot of the functionality of pFSense without the power
    drain/space usage. I've got a $5 Netgear router running DD-WRT and a
cast-off running OpenWRT and I'm continually surprised at what OpenWRT
    can do on commodity hardware.

Around here (California) USFF PCs are getting cheaper than SFF PCs. I
like the USFF form factor for home servers, but they're limited in how
much memory you can put in (most are 16 gb max) and most use laptop
power supplies. At one point, I had a drawer full of Dell power
supplies, but I don't work at a Dell shop any more. :)

I have had a look at USFF but they are quite expensive here still. The problem we suffer is Brexit. It drove up the price of everything. I am searching on Ebay for European ones as well

Did you say you poll and get nothing, then when you deliver a mail packet, you get all the backlog of mail?

If so, you'll hub should look through the logs to see what happens when you poll and get nothing and what happens after you deliver a packet.

It may be something as simple as a stale lock file, that doesnt get examined until you deliver a mail packet, at which the tosser deletes it and processes any backlog it had...

have been unable to connect myself to it for Micronet or FU-Net. I emailed Rick Smith and he's evidently not seeing my emails either. I'm not having problems with any other nets or email addresses.

If this goes out, it'll be a miracle. Has anyone else had problems connecting to hub.awesomenet.us? I've been getting periodic messages,
but have been unable to connect myself to it for Micronet or FU-Net. I emailed Rick Smith and he's evidently not seeing my emails either. I'm not having problems with any other nets or email addresses.

Thanks for the heads-up. The clone area option is good for a lot of network settings, but not all of them apparently. I can't see the tag line on messages I post locally, so that was a help. All the other networks have the correct origin lines, but I didn't use the nifty clone option on them :-) I also took the time to disable the silly avatar, as I forgot I had it enabled.

You can grab the latest Micronet BinkD nodelist on my board.

Yeah... I really only need to netmail you, then it's your problem to route
    it. hahahahaha

If it becomes too much, you could set up Squish/GoldEd and use FTP
    here.

I've got binkd working now and I toss with either DB or fastecho both are setup. Mostly I am using DB for all mail duty and it's working pretty well. I've never been one to like the *.msg but I will admit, it's as fast as anything
    else on modern computers. :)

That's what I'll do if I ever make good on my threats to shut down my BBS...

FTP is a pain in the bum. :) I'm trying to script my qwk/rep stuff with Pharcyde
but not having luck getting a client to deal with the pause when synchronet creates the qwk packet.

Not that I know of. Some systems use "busy locks" (like Windows) with FTP,
    but that's it.

For my system under Slackware Linux, I create a special user for the node
using FTP that has no login capability. I set them up to have an inbound
and outbound directory. MBSE will put their new mail in the outbound
directory and receive their mail using an inbound directory.

If you're interested, the MBSE manual discusses this:

    http://bbs.outpostbbs.net/mbseman/setup/nodes.html

Look under "8. Directory session". It shows how to set the node's internal
    set up using proftpd.

I actually prefer using FTP for mail. I used it for a good while when I was
a Fidonet point in 1996. My friend that I got my point from got rid of his POTS line and wrote a REXX script to handle moving mail via FTP as I was
using OS/2 Warp 4 at the time. I bought Internet Rex two years later. The
FTP script was always reliable for me.

Don't get me wrong: BinkP works fine. I just have fond memories of using
FTP back in my halcyon days in being a sysop.

Here is how the message displayed here. Both origin lines made
it through, but SBBS (or something) changed the GoldED one to start
with a '#'. So it is still there but is "neutered." ;)

Posting in here is just spamming. If you need to actally ask a question, do so in MIN_ADMIN and not in here.

Marty is unable to get netmail functioning correctly on his system. I think his system is misconfigured for netmail, t least on his Fidonet side.

I have not one but two netmail feeds via my RC and Nick's system for Fidonet and both are working here.

Nevertheless, mail issues belong in MIN_ADMIN, not in here.
