    Hey Necroman.. think it might be time to start looking at the dead echo's in retronet and maybe combining them into central areas.. cut down the echolist
    a bit.. maybe less areas with better quality would be more beneficial

    Probably not a bad idea. The echolist does seem a bit more specialized than
    it may need to be.

    It may be a bit specialized, but what did everyone expect when you are
    talking about Retro systems. There is not going to be any major traffic. If you go trimming the number of echo's down, then there may as well not even be
    a Retronet network.

    I joined for the specific reason of trying to build up a network for a
    specific computer that was not represented at the time. I am hoping to lure other people to establishing their own BBS's as well for the network. I've
    got two that are wanting to jump from real iron to a Windows or Raspberry PI system to eventually carry the echo.

    If the fat is trimmed, then I may as well go to another network.

    My 2 cents.

    P.S. The echo with the most messages is the BBS advertisements which I question how many people actually even view. It would be one thing if it was something new on a BBS someone wanted to promote, but a daily deluge of the same posts day after day, it is worthless to me.

    I agree with both your cents! The triming is not a good idea, and the repeated BBS Ads is not what it should be used for. New things you added to your BBS, Contests, and maybe once a month ad just incase someone new browed this network.

    I agree, leave the echo list alone. With the exception of only a couple of echos I don't think anyone is required to carry them all.

    I'm too new here to say yes or no, but I agree, even though a message base is dead doesn't mean it will always be that way.. Look at the Wildcat echo on Fido, between me and my idiotic questions and others trying to get WC4's
    online it is picking up traffic.. If I were to start a network today I would also choose to add in echo's the way they are here.. Just my opinion...

    The reason there may be areas with 0 messages could be due to how long
    messages are stored before deletion.

    With the retrogroups, I am holding onto them for years, with no plans to
    delete anything.

    I've got no areas with zero messages.

    not a real spot for less specific retro conversations it seems.

    Condensing the message echos might be a challenge - You need to plan it very
    well, otherwise a few sysops might not be aware of the change and keep the ghost echos alive...
